Hello!
I am a new duck\chicken owner so I am thrilled about a couple success stories these past two days. First, my Pekin ducks seem to have taught themselves how to put themself to bed. I installed an automatic chicken coop door on a shed we are using as a coop about 7 days ago. Up until tonight it was a circus rounding up ducks in our run. Tonight, they were snug in their coop!
The other success was processing 4 excess males yesterday. I had bought 10 straight run Pekins so I knew the day would come to process whatever extra boys I got. It turned out to be 5 and 5 so 4 males had to go at some point. Everything went smooth...well for the ducks... and my first time processing the ducks went great. It was very very slow for my first time. About an hour per duck. I think I could cut that in half though now that I know what I’m doing.
Thanks for listening!
