yes i went last year .my first and only chicken show. it was great as far as i could tell .lots of birds and bird brained people..lol j/k ..lots of nice people who raise chickens and ducks for a hobby. i hope to be able to attend again this yr. see you there

I read this first thing this morning while I was getting ready for work at 5:00 (I teach Special Ed in Welsh) and I didn't catch the bird brained joke... LOL I got to thinking about it while I was drying my hair and was like waaaiiitttt a minute...hahahaha

I look forward to going up there, it will be my first show since moving to LA. Did you happen to watch the junior showmanship last year? My kids wanted to possibly enter, but I need to prep them... I have just been watching videos and reading online stuff, as I never showed poultry in showmanship before.

i watched some of the showmanship but i would not know where to begin giving advise on that ..im sure there are some real showmen on here who could help...

I went last year and really like the show and the facilities. My boy does showmanship, he's 9. I noticed that alot of the videos on Youtube were of 4-H showmanship which seems different than a APA and ABA show. The judge will ask the child questions about body parts and poultry husbandery. The questions are age approiate and the kids are divided into age groups, usually. Each kid will need a bird that is entered in the show and a white lab coat. Any questions ask away.

Suggestions on where to get white lab coats??

I ordered mine from the APA youth website. They have books and other helpful items. There is a place on there for their youth program.
