Pellets for ducklings?

I just found an Asian Market here in Charleston, willing to try to sell my duck's eggs, paying me $2.75 per dozen :( after hard negotiations. That will just pay for the duck-food, water and the bedding, but it is a start (i hope!). - Meaning: The chances for more ducklings in my future are rising…
It's a start anyway, paying for supplies would be great. I guess the rate depends on where you live, some places they are expensive and here it took me forever to find people who would take the eggs for free

Oh my little tiny babies! They are practically teenagers!
They are super tall too! I think these babies are going to be a lot more slender and tall than the other ducks.

Oh, when can they play with that treat ball/ mealworms? They have been getting grit sprinkled on their food already. Just trying to think of things for them to do since they can't play outside yet.

Just sold the first 120 eggs to the store yesterday, now it is waiting time, i hope they sell good and make the customers happy so they want more. If the demand is high we may be able to raise the price and the i can have more ducks! - I know i'm a duck addict, its hopeless… :idunno

Thats a lot of eggs! The people who take our eggs are getting a whole half dozen today, lol :D Hopefully they do sell and word will spread so you can charge more. Especially since I would imagine you're packing up all the eggs and delivering to them. I'd be curious to know what they are selling them for per dozen.
I think all of us on here have a bit of a duck addiction :)

Treat ball now!if you have 60’s take them out some especially if you have sun. You’ll be able to tell right off if they get chilly.

Yup, i wrote 120 eggs instead of 10 dozen, so it sounded more. I still have over 500 in the cold pantry, but they're too old to sell. Absolutely OK to eat, but people here believe the eggs in the stores they buy have been laid this morning…
And yes, i am packing all eggs into nice egg cartons one dozen per box and i date stamp the box and store it in the cold pantry and drive to the store. The things we do for ducks!

@Miss Lydia you were faster! I was about to write the same thing: Do let them play outside when it is warm enough for you to watch them without wearing a heavy jacket. Make sure they get some sunshine and some natural ground under their webbed feet, hopefully there's a spout where your grown-up's have not eaten all the grass. Keep them dry (no outside bathing) and protected from the wind and they will love it - and you too.
Pop out your phone and make a video, you know we all love to watch little ducklings playing…

Exposing them to some colder temperatures will promote their feather growth in the same way as exposure to water triggers their preening gland. I had my spring ducklings out on the patio in February this year!

Oh awesome, thank you! Excited to let them play with the treat ball and have some trips outside. It's going to be in the 60's the next few days. I've always been a bit overprotective of the little one's, these babies are our 1st we have raised going into winter.

I must say I did the math at price per dozen this morning. It's nice when the ducks can help pay for their own supplies. Nicely packaged fresh eggs should sell quickly. Plus they can tell people they are organic, free range, non-gmo & gluten free and all the other things people are looking for these days :) Just don't hit any big bumps on the way to deliver them.

Thank you, I'm very excited to get them out and it should be warm enough tomorrow. Our front yard is sunny with plenty of grass and falling leaves for them to play in and would do well for some pretty pics and video. We may just have to bring them out back to get a look at the big ducks too :) We sure do need to get them ready since they should be going outside toward the middle/end of December.

The store owner told me he is selling balut-eggs for $8 a dozen, but for the fresh eggs he can only charge $3 a dozen. For fresh chicken eggs he's asking $2.50 per dozen.
Just bad times for farmers when big chain supermarkets are selling a dozen "fresh" eggs for 99 cents. :(
I know, i know: You cannot compare a watery egg from a half dead cage-chicken with a farm fresh egg or even a duck-egg, but unfortunately 99% of all customers think with their wallets only.
