Pellets or crushed layer feed

If my girls are hungry enough will they eat the pellets? They came from crushed feed. They roam our urban backyard and I feed about 3 cups morning and night for 5 hens. They don't come running for food, just scraps.

Adult birds should have no problems eating pellets... And it's best to offer food free choice all day not portioned out...

@meepbeep I was leaving food out but I have no where to hang, not a good coop design. I have city birds also if I leave it out. Could the chickens prefer crumble and stick their beaks up at pellets? If they are hungry they will eat it right?
