I prefer the seed/grain mix over pellets/crumbles. They would eat seed and grains in the wild plus I don't like it turning to powder as I would get toward the bottom of the barrel as well as in their feeders. I feed an organic, non-GOM/soy layer mix that consists of feeder oats, soft white wheat, hard red wheat, lentils, corn, split peas, sesame seeds, kelp granules and cottonseed oil. My hens (Orps and RIR's) are laying an egg a day except for my Marans that lay every 2 or 3 days.
