I have a small bantam rooster that has been in the house for a week or more, after he started isolating himself from the others, fluffing his feathers, etc. I posted yesterday that he now has some breath sounds that are not right. Almost a crunchy sound, as if eating a crisp cookie.
He isn't eating much...seemed to ignore a scrambled egg this morning. His legs are weak also.
I have no idea what is going on with him, but this crackling in his chest (or nose?) is new, and I've been hearing it about 3 days.
I am seriously considering giving him some Pen. G. What I have is Pen. G Procaine. Is that what you all use? It is all the feed store had, and I did give it to a chicken with an infected prolapse, and she is fine now.
He weighs only ounces....Trying to figure the dosage leads me into microscopic proportions. Would something less than 1/4 cc be about right? I don't want to make him worse, of course, but don't know of anything else to do for him.
Any help is appreciated.
