Hey all I need a bit of advice, I recently acquired a chicken from my brother, I noticed a month or two ago that her crop was huge when we went over and when I felt it, it was very squishy, he said it had been like that a while but didn't seem to bother her (needless to say he's not really one to put much effort into his chooks) I finally convinced him to let us take her. Her crop feels more normal (not too hard or too soft and no putrid smell that I detect) but it's still huge. I am fairly certain that she HAD sour crop and got past it but ended up with a pendulous crop as a result of it being stretched out. I put her on a water only diet for what has now been about 48 hours and although much smaller her crop is still not completely emptied (I can still feel food in it but it's gone from softball sized to a little larger than a golfball). It's nighttime now so she is currently sleeping but I really don't want her to go much longer without food so I'm considering giving her a bit of yogurt tomorrow to start with. I'm also going to try and make her a crop bra to help her keep it as quick emptying as possible. I just want to know if this is the best course of action. I'm also wondering if vanilla yogurt will hurt (since it's all I have) and how much should I give her. Everything I've read says to introduce food back slowly but I can't find any advice on how slowly, ect. Thanks in advance.
