Penectomy information - help!

My handicapped drake Apple has had a prolapsed penis for several months now. This prevents him from spending time outside with the others as his prolapse dries out too much if he is on the dirt. I have heard that penectomies are fairly simple for drakes and do not hamper them in their daily life. I would like to ask the vet to perform a penectomy on Apple. This would enable him to spend time outside, where he would be much less lonely.

Does anyone know anything about penectomies?

Of course...ouch! But he is in pain on a daily basis when the tip dries out. He is also unable to be with his friends because it dries out too much too quickly if he goes in the dirt. So he is confined to house bathtub jail. This operation could free him to be outside with his friends - and could remove the daily pain he has had for the last few months. So...

Talking with your vet and using this solution sounds like the best way to go poor thing can't have much of a duck life being confined to the bath tub when he could be outside enjoying the flock. I'd say if the vet is willing and thinks it would be successful the go for it.
