Penelope has between 5-7 eggs under her...she won't let me check to see how many that she has, but I know she has at least 5....and I didn't check on her the 6th egg day and I know she was setting the day after...This is her first brood and this is Pete's 3rd season, so I'm hopeful. I am letting her brood them.

My question is....Should I seperate Pete from her when it gets close to her hatch date or will he let her do her thing with the chicks and leave them be? I am able to seperate them, but Pete has always been so tolerant of change that I don't think he would interfere with her and the peachicks. Opinions please?? I have read to keep them off of the ground for 3 months, but I'm letting Penelope raise them. Their coop and run has not had chickens in it. What do ya' think?? Here she is...25 more days to go

How exciting! They should do well in the run as long as its predator proof. I don't know if leaving the cock with them is safe or not. Hopefully someone else will. Good luck.

mine free range but I've never seen a peacock bother the babies. They do sometimes scare an older bird away from food. it may depend on how small the pen is.

Well the coop is 10x12x8 and their run is 22x32 roughly, or maybe it's 36...Pete is a sweetheart and seems super alert now, screaming at every little noise he hears... lol...
