Penguin got beat up last night 😢

Yeah they sure can be.. I usually only have issues if they manage to make a nest without me noticing because they only get super hormonal when they're laying on a lot of eggs.
My broodies just get mad and chase everyone around. It's kind of funny to watch. But, that's not what is going on with mine at the moment. My dominant one is just mean to her sister. For some reason, she puts up with my runner ducks. I think she bosses them around, but isn't super mean to them like she can be to her sister.

Same thing here no one is broody but the other night I put everyone up and heard a commotion in the Muscovy house opened the door and there was my old duck Ruth Ann on top of Joy biting at her head. They can be so catty. Mind you Ruth Ann can hardly walk now but she sure was going after Joy.

Those darn muscovies. I thought maybe they'd settle down after some time. I guess not. 😆

Probably would be a good idea, especially if you just have the one female.
My sweet female muscovy is going to be rehomed with my sons pekins. Having her and the pekin drake together is just temporary. It's a shame the pekin drake cannot go too but my son's drake would not accept that. All 4 of my ducks are rescues and all but my big lump of a muscovy were raised together by a rehabber. The rehabber was surprised that her "mellow" drake has turned out to be mean. I am shocked that my big sweet cuddly drake has also become meanie with the muscovy female. The mean muscovy drake is also occasionally mean with my big formally sweet, but still cuddly drake. But it is good that the bossy pekin drake has grown into a protecting rock star!
