Thank you!! My husband built it. If I tried it would be pretty sad! Lol!!!

Thanks silkie. I never even knew there was medicated prior to joining BYC. So I simply purchased a 20 lb bag of starter/grower.
The starter/grower is all I use. The only thing the medicated really helps with is cocci, so I don't bother since half my birds can't have it anyway. The best way to prevent cocci that I have found is to bring a little dirt in from outside for the chicks to dust bathe in & let them have gradual exposure to any cocci that may be in your soil to they can build up immunity. Also, taking them outside for short periods to scratch in the dirt when weather is nice will do the same thing.

Welcome aboard! You can see from the map in my signature where most people are from! Lots of great info on here. As far as coop...I saw 2 on Craigslist today. 1 was a tractor style one for $150 in Biglerville I believe and one that's a nice sized shed for $350...don't remember where that one was from.
Missydcpc, thanks for the info about the coops on craiglist, picked mine up on Sunday and the wonderful gentleman that I bought the coop from is giving me 6-12 chicks of various breeds in about 2 weeks. I am sooooo exited.

they got the boot!
I cheat and it works WONDERFULLY! No straining either! I do the HOTWATER no STRAINING method and LOVE IT! It has never smelled so fermented before either! Call me to discuss, its easy and will save the mess and time! I am so glad I experimented with it, its even easier than it was!

YAY UPDATE!!!
Oh my I didn't know it !
