Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

The colored broilers (red, black, rainbow rangers) have far less problems but grow a bit more slowly. Still really nice birds.
That's most likely what I'll be looking into. My future FIL gave me a price list from Myers in South Forks. IF I can't find the ones I want through other members here, I know I can get from there. Although looking at the shipping costs it might not be a savings to order from there vs TSC as I'd only be order 25 (at most) per order.

Depending on where you are, I could split an order with you if you want. Another girl & I already go in together to get them cheaper. Think I paid 90 cents each for my reds & blacks this year. They came from Ideal in Texas.

To get the better price you can check around to some other folks in your area to see if someone else is interested. A lot of folks are put off by the 'minimum order' number. You may find 2 or 3 neighbors that each want 10 or 15 and then you could get the cheaper price for 50.

Edit to laugh at the fact that SS just proved my point! See? Lots of folks split meat hatchery orders to get the better deals!

I wouldn't have a problem ordering a hundred or more as long as all but 25 were going elsewhere...LOL

All the eggs are bourbon red.
Would you like to swap some eggs

I would be interested as well! I also only need 3-4.

I know what I paid (in birds) for the pair of Toulouse that I have now (that the kid swore were a proven pair) & it was too much now that I know the gander isn't doing his job. PM me a general figure of what you're looking to get out of them & I'll tell you if it's at least close to my price range. Then maybe we can find a few birds from my brooders/grow-out pen that could cut at least part of that cost...LOL

I see you have Calls... Hubby is considering trading big ducks for little ducks, lol!

That's a possibility. I have eggs in right now (due 1st week of May) or I can do eggs (will be about 2 weeks for these, I have 3 orders ahead now that fertility has been confirmed). Tell me what duckies you have for trade. Or we can do some duckies for the geese

We're on the other side of the state, I think. I'm about 15 minutes from Reyvaughn and I saw how far you are in an earlier post, or I'd say you got a deal.

Neighbors are pretty much out, they're either family (and already invested in the flock) or complain about the roos already within ear shot or refuse to get their own. We're pretty spread out where I live, so I don't know why they complain so much. I personally enjoy watching the sun come up with a cup of joe and hearing the boys ( each about a mile away in multiple directions). My interactions with some neighbors will be be further diminished if I have any roos in my flock, but then again I'm not worried as we're zoned for all livestock and I don't like them much anyway *insert smirk, rubbing of hands, a low evil laugh.

* I think there may be some other people on here that are near enough that meeting up to split the chicks shouldn't be a problem.

Keep an eye on Ideal Poultry's website. They have weekly specials especially at the beginning & end of "chick season" where you can get stuff really cheap. I have a trio of saddleback pomeranians coming next month from them.
