Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

No! No! No! I have a plan and must stick to it! I cannot go buy speckled Sussex, just cause they're on sale!

Didn't someone here want Bresse?

I'm having the same issue over here. The Mill has Speckled Sussex Pullets in, and I'm really fighting myself not to go there. I have a plan too! Even though my plans always change at the last minute!!

See, I like chickens because you don't have to have a plan. If I get tired of the Cochins, I can sell and look for a new breed. If I don't like the Polish, I sell and get a new breed. I love it! It's the animal for people like me - can't stick with anything for a long period of time. Except Dewey. Over 10yrs with that chicken.

So glad I traded horses for chickens!

YAY!!

Adding Sally candled again SHE HAS 17 Ancona Duck VIABLE so she will be SELLING EVERY SINGLE DUCKLING ASAP! :lau  And that way she wont get divorce papers in the mail, hmmmm until he see's the Turkey eggs in the bator :duc

Divorce papers are usually 'served', at least on TV... But sell those ducks anyway!

Note to self: I don't want goats. I don't want goats. Much much easier to go to Blarney's and visit.

Anytime!. Well anytime after I get these ladies under control, and I WILL! I have to. Score today, (so far) Blarney: 3 Goats: Nada!! The clip l
Clopping I heard earlier was my paranoid imagination.

I have mine tied.  She's chewing my $20 lunge line, but she hasn't chewed through it yet.  Once we get the new shed up for her and the future goat, we have 4' no climb fence and electric tape to install.  I hope that keeps them in... I am concerned about it now with all your issues, Blarney.

don't worry, I'll get it figured out, and then pass on my wisdom. I should have listened to the people who told me, Hot Hot HOT fence, but they said that for the pigs too, and I found it wasn't true.

 I'm starting to think the same thing! Blarney, here's an idea: Go to your local prison and ask exactly what they use to contain inmates! I'm thinking 30 ft. tall chain linked fencing with 5 rows of barbed wire at the top, laced with electric fencing! On second thought, that probably wouldn't be enough!!:gig

ROFL!

Here it is!! Middle of the egg *sigh* Never had one do this! He/she is yellow though!

This is the one on the small end.. he/she is black in color :D

All I have to say is... they better make it! Lol

The one that started its 2nd pip and moving alot lol. It was fine... went to work to come home to 2 pips.

And the 4th is starting its hatching journey!

Not sure if your talking her feather color or not...... but here this is in case

if you see yellowish, sometimes they stick their feet into the yolk and tear it, how long has it been pipped? you don't want this one to sit too long, but it still has to have veins absorbed. it can get infected if you let it stew in there. If it is ruptured and hanging emptyish (not like ball) you will need to dip some dental floss in betadine and tie off the yolk and add betadine to the navel and keep it separate from the others, it may need a quick wash in warm water DO NOT get any in its beak! I like to wash them fast after tying yolk, since they are already mostly wet anyways, over and done. just reapply the betadine and keep and eye on it. when the chick is active offer electrolyte solution its in the hatching 101 article at the bottom if you need to make some homemade fast.

AGAIN only when those veins are not active!
