was told using pine cones for mulch will keep the cats out of flower beds,,,,wonder if it works for chickens ?? Nope, my chickens love to play in the front yard (nothing but pinecones/pine needles made from a skid,,,cheaper than fencing.

Anyone looking for a dog to own? My wife has saved 2 dogs from a shelter in Georgia a few days ago and just now. They both would've been put to death by gassing otherwise. We need to find them homes. Anyone think they're interested or know someone that would be?

Sheltie mix, 25 lbs, sweet lil female. Age: 2-4 yrs old

Eric, Me too! the first pen we built for the littles so that they could have 'play time' outside on warm days was only 3 feet high, NOT high enough for me to catch em up before bedtime, so the new one is built from wood we got out of a dumpster, yup, climbed right in myself...there is NOTHING I won't do for my chooks, and when it embarrasses the teenager, all the better! Well, this one is 6 feet on one side so we can stand up inside.

My main run is going to be 10x6 and at least 5 ft high with a corrugated metal roof. There is also nothing better than embarrassing a child of any age Blarney. I have three kids myself and can't wait to see them cleaning up chicken poop. Lol

CC, I didn't realize just how that worked until DH got this dog. We had agreed on no more dogs. My dog passed, and 2 weeks later we had a mutt (Shih-Poo) that no one else wanted. We were the third family in three months to fill out paper work for him, and be accepted. We were the first to come back for him! I wanted nothing to do with him, and I thought his behavior the first day (insisting on me holding him) was just excitement. 2 1/2 years later, Sturgis is a Momma's boy! A lot of dogs have shown a preference for me. This dog has never once listened to my husband. Even going outside has to be approved by me, or he won't go.

Wanted to share with you guys what my Mom and Grandmom got me for my birthday.

It's for my sweet ducklies! Hubby is building a HUGE portable run to go with this duck house and gonna put the house on wheels when it gets here. Having my nice Amish built coop was one of the best things I ever bought. Keeps my chickens safe, keeps them warm, and they get fresh grass and new scenery without neighbors complaining. So I decided I am going to do the same with my new Khaki campbells. This guy is real nice and seems to be able to build them in reasonable time! Ducklies have wonderful grandparents, doncha think?????

Going out looking for their pool next.

I went to tsc the other week. a dog rescue was there. If course all the dogs want attention. I sat on the ground. One dog came over and curled up on my lap, no urging. I was soooo close!
