Good luck with that, my Mom still doesn't get that and her youngest is 22.....It's not me I'm 31 and in a different house.
I buy Dumor crumbles and ferment them, and get free snacks from the local farmers market (stuff they won't sell, like bruised apples, loose lettuce leaves ect)
Tell her hickies went out of style in the 90's....

Glad to hear!

Feed question ... what does everyone use, bought, made etc.  Just interested to hear everyones thoughts before I start to get food in prep for the chickens arrival.  Any answers would be greatly appreciated! :bow

Layer mash from Sunday's Mill. After next weekend when I'm in NJ for Relay for Life (note..my sis is team captain...and since she FINALLY had the baby via c-section on Friday night, she obviously won't be up for staying....so take a wild guess who is now in charge??, Oh and BTW...my chickens aren't laying!!!) I will start making Fermented Feed with it again. They also get all our leftovers, and on occasion when I'm in the store and a bag or box of salad is marked down to $0.99 they get that as well. All the egg shells they want, all the worms, bugs, grubs they can find outside along with any tasty plants they decide on (note, mine don't eat dandelions!)

Just wanted to share my story of today...

I was cleaning out Patches (broken leg duck) cage... And I pulled her out of the cage and placed her on a traing pad so poo that was on her didn't get everywhere.  She was at least 2 feet away from me.. I was reaching into the cage when I heard her scrambling about and then quacked... Next thing I know she hit my foot with her beak and VERY quickly started to bite my foot!!! That little ************ managed herself over to me JUST TO BITE ME...... Only I would have such an ungrateful duck!!! Left me a nice red hickey like mark on my foot....

She just wanted to give you a kiss!

Yes, I am posting again!!
I was cutting up egg cartons last night (for my hatching eggs) and while cutting the top off an old one, I noticed a recipe. I thought I would share. I also think it would be great if they still had recipes inside egg cartons!
Egg Cheese Dip

1 medium onion
10 boiled eggs
1 lb American cheese
1 lb Sharp Cheddar

Grind together, then mix with mayonnaise until a spreading consistency. Add salt to taste.
Store covered in the refrigerator. Remove ahead of time to allow dip to soften up.

Will have to try!

Lol! Something tells me she dosent care! Everyctime I put water or food in there for her she gets her neck/head hackles up and starts a hissing sound. She should be happy I get her food! Lol!

I think if it doesn't pour tomorrow the ducklings are going outside...I'm so sick of quacking!

Watching The Newlywed Game. "What is the last romantic thing your husband did for you? "
"He bought me a chicken coop "

Are you kidding, that is romantic!!!

Ok, for those of you who have pekins....when do they get real feathers??? These 2 are 5 weeks old...and still have fluff! Is this normal? Maybe i just don't remember with the scovies, cause maybe I got them older, or maybe I don't remember cause Duck took over all the parenting responsibilities, or maybe because it was later in the year, I kicked them out younger? I don't know...but these 2 are so pathetic I'm worried I'm doing something wrong. I went down to do laundry and there quacking drove me to the brink I put them outside in the pen the original scovies were in last year (gonna regret this when I have to go get them out, and the pen is only 4 feet tall...and I have to go in the little gate to chase them around to get them out). Their incessant quacking drove my chickens into panic mode! So their out there with the sled with water in it so they can drink (and hopefully bathe) when I go put the laundry on the line, I'll bring them in and put them back in the brooder.....

I have a question for anyone... The partridge is 5mnths..soon 6..there are feathers, hers, not like "omg", they are all different too, some of the long ones from the tail?..under-fluff, she likes to preen, well, so does the other one, she does have a bunch of new ones(feathers) are coming in...I noticed, on her head...the shaft? is still on them *** the Question**: Is she getting her "big" girl feathers in or? I am always looking at them(holding), whether they like it or not ...anyway, no pests..no pecking...clean, dry & eating well..very well, drinking just fine ...
