it's a shame that hawks are so evil,,,,they are gorgeous birds........
I usually do not have many problems with hawks,,,,the old silo is always full of pigeons and makes for an easy target to the hawks,,,,they feast on pigeons and let my pens alone,,,this being the 1 reason we let the pigeons live there.

I know what you mean by how agile they are,,,had one awhile back swoop right past my head chasing a sparrow,,,,even made a swooshing sound...

Oh wow, sorry for the loses but at least you know exactly what was doing it now. Do you have any idea what you can do to deter it?

My little area I will have the chickens (when they will be out of the coop) in, isn't enclosed so after seeing this I think I might have to get some netting and work it from the fence into the tree cover above their run area.

..we have hawks out the eyeballs here!! I am able to put netting over their little run...but am Acre??!! .. don't know

With all this talk of eating strange and odd things, you make me think of my Dad!! Grew up with pickled heart of many different animals..beef/deer...and other "tasteies"..beef-tongue...I couldn't do that one though, don't want to be eating something that can taste me back!

This is in a smaller run area,,,this is the meat bird side,,,,,,,,,

umm chiques,,,,,,that's a good idea but I will wait till after the FIL signs all the papers since hubby will probly hang himself also..

Fishing line just might work, but I prefer a more permanent solution...



Not sure what is going on lately, but as i was sitting on my bucket this morning waiting for a birdie to show up,,,I watched a fox walk thru the field (before anyone say's it, it was to far away) I have never seen a fox on the property, I know they are there, I just never seen them.....

not liking all these predators suddenly showing up,,,must stop the construction in the area, they are what i blame for the critter movement.
