Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I was out with my darlings. I bent down to give the little roo a rub and tuff nut was beside him. She usually hates to be touched by I try. She squatted right down with her wings out just a bit. This means she is close to laying right? If u don't remember here she is

Looks like it!

yes I agree---------and / or.......it could be one half of a door that you open so you have a big opening for cleaning out the coop.

Window with or without shutter for the chickens.............and door for cleaning?

floor looks good!

have you drawn up your general idea?

nest box or two..........roost bar with good set up below to clean up the poop below the roost?

I did not have enough good locations for indoor food and water.........it seemed like I did but really not so much.

have fun........when I was doing this I had endless ideas..............and actually still do now!

good luck!

Sounds like it. Some of our girls do it ANY time we come near them, some only do it for our roos.

I would build it into a side wall with wire on the inside. Ventilation with little rain getting in.

Yes, I believe in ventilation. I like a dry Coop. Dry manure doesn't really smell. Dry air is better for the birds.
I agree, although I would cut it in half (in between the slatted sections) and place each half into opposite side walls to allow better airflow and also make sure it isn't in line with the roost. Another option, depending on your body build, is to use it for the human access door.

Hey...HOG away...

ETA: The news everyone was dreading... My pap's tests for lung cancer keeps coming back negative, but they can see the spots in the x-rays. I told mom that maybe it's just scar tissue? He worked in the HVAC industry all his life and he smoked for over half his life. His one whole kidney is pretty much nothing but cancer. They are going to give him a chemo pill to clean that out. The cancer on his back is right on his spine, so he will be paralyzed within a year. The worst news is that the cancer is in all his lymph nodes. They gave him a year or less to live. My pap is in denial. He doesn't understand the gravity of the situation and thinks the chemo pill will totally cure him. He's 74 and is still working - he milks cows in the morning for a huge dairy farm. He has retired and came back to work 3x now. He won't stop working for treatment, either.

So sorry to hear of your pap's diagnosis...
Day 22 here and not one peep from the bator. No pipping or rocking at all. Ugh. They look like blue rocks. Just totally silent and unmoving.

Hoping they are just slow!

Sucks to go through 3 wks of waiting and not have them hatch.
Hey rey:

Sounds like you plate is full...hope things go as smooth as possible....sometimes its 10lbs in a 5lb bag....
a good way to put it!

Alright, you asked for it! This weekend was the start if a very long journey, longer than it should be because I don't know what the heck I'm doing....

The first pic is breaking some of the boards off of the pallet, being supervised by the dog.

The second part is the bottom or floor of the coop, which is a totally closed off pallet. Thought this would be a little insulation for the floor in winter. I plant to put the house on 4x4 fence posts cut to a fair height. I also have laminate sheeting for the floor, which I had read was a good idea to help with clean up. This is my first pic upload. Forgive the screw ups!

Sounds like she may be getting ready to start. Nice looking hen!

Sounds better than what I'm doing today, and most likely less crowded. I promised Gavin I'd take him to the Bloomsburg Fair

I HATE crowds, and the level of stupidity being in a crowd seems to bring out in people. Not to mention people seem to be lacking every form of manners once they step onto those grounds....

Ok, end rant...On a lighter note: anyone willing to start a fund if I need bail money later???

Oh and one of ducks started laying, not sure if it's the mallard again, since she gave up on the two she had, or if it's one of the other girls. Gonna have to do a "recon" one of these mornings to see who it is.
Hope everyone has a better day than I will

It was great seeing you today!!! Recognized Gavin first LOL sorry! And It can be your mallard girl not giving up! She probably wants to be a moms like my scovy does!!!

How was the rest of your day at the fair?
Candled and am 99% sure nothing's gonna hatch. Oh well, I'll just hatch some Americaunas in the spring from my sebright rooster. And some barnyard mixes.
It's ok.... keep trying until something does!!!! lol!!!
