Hey! Haven't been here in forever.... Life's been keeping me very busy! Anyway, my rooster, Mr Green Jeans has started sneezing, seems to be eating, pooping and chasing the ladies as normal, but I'm worried about him getting or if he has some kind of virus I should be treating for... Any advice? Thanks in advance, I look forward to catching up with everyone.

Michele

Michele,

I would check him for sinus drainage and see if his eyes are clear or mattery.... if he is acting normal and his eyes and nose are clear I would just watch that nothing changes. If his eyes are gunky and his nose is also I would go over to the emergency and first aid forum section to check for suggested remedies. Hopefully he just has a simple cold and it clears up soon. You could try spoiling him a bit with some yogurt, oatmeal with brown sugar or scrambled eggs to boost his energy/immune system a bit. If he still acts like he used to he probably gives all of the best goodies to his girls and shorts himself.

I'm new to the chicken world! Just got 5 chickens last Sunday. I'm not real sure what they are, I think they are bantams. This site it really helpful! Will be looking for more, would like to get some good egg laying ones. Not real sure on all the breeds, so trying to learn a little first.

Hello from Indiana County.... welcome to the madness!.. Errr... oops, welcome to the wonderful world of chicken keeping! LOL

If you aren't sure of the breeds of your new birds you can always post up a few pics once you have a few posts under your belt, I think you have to have something like 10 or 20 before you can post pics, I can't remember the exact number. So post a bunch then put up some pics of your birds and folks on here may be able to help you identify them.

Ok, thank you fisherlady. I will post some pics probably tomorrow. I could use all the help I can get!! I have let them free during the day, and they run to me soon as I open the back door! Never thought that would happen. But they grew on me fast!
