Love your avatar Eli! Looks so much like you!
Yes, I am looking forward to meeting him at the farm and then picking that brain for idea's....I often think of things to try but just not sure how to go about them........
dheltzel, the day that you come visit me, please wear good walking shoes, and have extra time...
Yes!!!! Spring Fever
looking at the upcoming weather,,, I think I will clean out my buckets and get a fresh ferment going, gonna do one like normal and try another with just grain,,,,I have whole corn, wheat, barley on hand......and suggestion what I can go get to add to that, cheaply please, I have a couple options on farm stores...I still have about a dozen sunflower plants hanging in the barn, but do not feel like shelling them...
my youngest granddaughter will also be here this weekend (2 year old) may be a good time to run to TSC and pick up those production birds, she would enjoy that...

am I the only one getting all excited just because of a weather forecast of nice days??
Totally with you on the 'excited for nice weather' thing! We have 2 broodies due to hatch tomorrow and it will be so nice to finally see chickens roaming around outside on grass instead of mud!
Though... not looking forward to muddy dog paws needing cleaned 10x a day till all the snow melt soaks in or dries up! Our yard still is under at least a foot of snow, with a lot more where it is piled from the plow and snowblower. I think we will have snow banks till June at the rate we are going!
My one chick last year did that! It ended up being a rooster! I got rid of him and I still regret getting rid of him...He was also the first to greet me and would let me pick him up and was happy just being held and loved on. Some of my other chickens now dont mind being held and other could careless....My one hen which I lost this winter if i was sitting in the yard she would climb up on my lap and snuggle in and go to sleep.Question. Did any of you ever have a chick that is so bonded with you that you feel bad putting her back in the brooder? My little Pepper is always the first one to run out of the brooder when I open it up and all she wants to do is snuggle and cuddle up on my shoulder or under my neck. She isn't even 2 weeks old yet! Most of the others don't like to be held at all and some won't even come to my hands but not little Pepper. Is this normal. Remember, still a newbie here lol.

Very, very true... they are certainly very individual in their behaviors and attitudes! Guess it's Nature vs Nurture... all raised the same, many from same breedings... but no 2 are alike!
