Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

went out to check birds and close coops and found my silkie roo Bomb passed away. I had him seperated while I treated him for lice and general weakness/lethargy. *sighs* RIP Bomb the ugliest silkie roo.

Sorry for your loss

Okay, I really need to thin out my ever growing flock. I have a buff orpington cockerel for free (6 weeks old I think). And an itty bitty tiny EE bantam pullet (also 6 weeks). She's timid and bullied a lot. So someone will have to make sure she integrates well into a new flock because she's very scared and passive towards other flockmates. I feel bad for her :( Both free to good homes. The buff orpington cockerel is the tamest I have right now. Which of course is subject to change once hormones really kick in. But so far, no problems with him like the other cockerels his age. Which the others are going to the chopping block down the road. I figured I'd try to find a home for him before I end up eating him myself. If you're looking to eat him, you may still have him.

I also have a chocolate wyandotte bantam cockerel, out of Greenfire lines (7 weeks) for sale. $10. I'll add pics here. I'm in the Harrisburg/York area. PM me if interested :)

Chippysmom,
I didn't realize you lived so close to me. I'm about 35 min. from murrysville. I'm so happy your cousin is okay. Praying for the other students too.

Is anyone going to the buy swap trade for the uniontown poultry association this Sunday? I've never been and really want to go.

ahhh, Im totally freaking out, how can you tell they are cocks that young? They look like my 6 week old chicks. ahhhh. Not sure my neighbors would be too thrilled if I added a roo to my growing collection of chicks ducks..help me

I am putting my east indie ducks up for sale, They have been together since hatch so I do not want to seperate them, what are the chances of someone buying all 8 and keeping them as a flock.....FYI, I tried Chelsea, she would only want 2.....

I am also still up in the air on price, these are not everyday ducks so I will not sell for a low price... need some guidance here...my ducks usually go by weight on a plate...
feb 10 hatch date, so
i do have quite a bit of time and feed in them

The buff orp came from a fry pan special (lol) from Meyer hatchery, which are all roosters. Plus his comb is a bit more developed than a pullet's, and becoming red too already, hard to see that in his pic though. My other cockerel is a rosecomb breed, but he started turning red there and developed red wattles wayyyy before my pullets. The young pullets have no color to their combs or wattles at all. And they're so underdeveloped yet. Sometimes it's hard to tell, especially with slow maturing breeds, but you start learning to pick up on who is boy and who is girl after a few weeks. I keep a young roo now that hasn't crowed yet. I don't know why he doesn't. But I only want to keep him. I think when you start keeping more than one rooster, it starts getting noisy :p
