Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Check around their vent and under their wings to see if you can see any creepy crawlies. Mites usually go on the chickens at night but when they are infested with mites you can see them on the chickens.

I went out and checked but I didn't see anything moving around. I looked over about 6 of them. The best I could anyway, they were squirming like crazy!

Love the pics of coops in progress, and new hatches and those on the way!

I know there were more of you I wanted to respond to, but after so many posts I can't remember them all.

Question: I started a batch of fermented feed... today was the third day, and when I went to stir it, it reeks, I mean really reeks. I just used water, bc my Walmart is out of the acv w/ mother. So is it bad? I have no idea what it should smell like, so maybe I'm a wuss, but I figured I better ask you all.

Welcome to you and everyone I missed!

3 more chicks died today. I'm going to treat for coccidosis just in case. The only other thing I can think of is the cold, they are a month old and were inside until last Saturday. Maybe the damp cold has been too much for the weaker ones.

So sorry again! I hope things turn around for you!

This is the chicken coop with the built in run I started last friday the frame is finished I just need to make the house and wrap the house in chicken or rabbit wore the smaller the better:)
Here is the actual for in the door frame:

Can I adopt you for a week? I need a good run that's about 10 x 14 and I have no skills in building these kind of things.

Hi. I am from Lackawanna County and new to the chicken hobby.I am especially concerned about keeping them during the brutal PA winters.

Did you see bubbles when you stirred it, sounds like the fermentation process starting, but again, my nose does not work so I have no clue what it should smell like.......

Tpol:

Just get cold hardy birds and give them an area that protected and they'll do fine...they birds have been around along time, they are tougher that they appear....my two cents...
