Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I am having a bad morning. I went to let the girls out, and found two eggs (after no eggs yesterday, ANY eggs makes me happy). One of them pretty much had no shell. I saw a partial soft shell, but this is getting ridiculous! I am pretty sure it will be fine in the Spring since she has only been doing this for a month or so (I mean imperfect eggs), and I occasionally get a good egg from her.
The next problem is that Red has been snapping at me. I thought I was imagining it at first when he would peck at the back of my boot (or occasionally leg). It was like he was bumping into me, and I ignored it. Then two days ago he actually ran at me in attack mode. I have never done a thing to stress him out. Never chased him, I always knew he was going to be my special boy. Is it a teen thing?
Yes, and even though after a few months, it got better with mine, he's still going on Saturday. I have Roo's that are so friendly you wouldn't know they were Roo's, and then there are the others. Hot blooded, dominant, no B.S. Roo's. I will miss my boy, but my other chickens won't for sure!

Question WHY do I get COCHIN and BRAHMA mixed up?? I have both and still question myself on who is who!!! I have them written somewhere!! LOL
Ok. I have to tell you what I did. RoPo got such a kick out of this.....

Saw an ad online on PB for a quad of SQ white cochins. I got all excited and emailed the seller to get shipping costs, total and find out more about the birds. We conversed back and forth a few times and I am really stoked. Wanted to show them to RoPo, so told her to look at the ad. She couldn't find it, so I copied it and IMed it to her. She so kindly pointed out to me that the ad was in fact NOT for cochins, but for orpingtons!!!!!

I felt like a total idiot....

LOL!

I had Heather look at them last week and she said they look like girls and boys. I'm gonna bring them and you guys can tell me, cuz I'm not sure. and from Sally's post I guess the eggs are slow to grow. I'm gonna have you stocked up.

I am not sure, I think its 2 boys, and 2 girls. As of last week. I don't know barred rocks well at all, especially what they look like at different growth stages. What I will say about those chicks is they have the stance and body type of a Cornish. Not a Rock x meaty, but a Cornish.

I am sorry to hear this, but it is probably how he is going to be. I have a bantam Cochin Rooster that bit me 4x yesterday. He is 4 months. Its not only me that he is biting its the other chickens too. So he is now a jail bird, solitary confinement. Good Luck!
