I give up. I am not going back to read 200 posts.
I have been working on cleaning the second coop in the shed. It was 6 X 8, but I took the wall down. When it (finally!) dries, I will make it only 6 X 6. I need more storage room.
Since I was too filthy to go in the house to take breaks, I began working on planting what I have for the garden. A few things will have to wait. I was getting too sore and just plain tired after five hours or so of almost constant work. Not bad for an obese woman that hasn't worked like that in ... A while!
The BBW are getting huge! 8 weeks now, and they are getting their wattles and their snoods are growing. Their noises are changing too.
The Bourbon Red poults are 4-weeks now. They had a growth spurt over the weekend, and they are pretty much red and white now. They stink to high heavens! I am cleaning their brooder daily, and switched their water to a soup bowl to stop most of the water spillage. I hope to get them outside tomorrow with a heat lamp. It figures that the temperature would go down to the 30's as soon as I get them out!

I tried to post a few days ago, but the message got lost. If you are like Stake (not picking. You are just the only one I remember) and can't wait to plant in the spring, go to Home Depot, and buy Wall O Wonder. About six weeks before the last frost, you plant your vegetable, and put a bucket over it. Slide the Wall over the bucket, and fill the channels with water. Slowly pull the bucket off the plant. The Wall will close in like a tee pee. The water heats up during the day, and keeps the plant warm during the night. One claim is that it even works in a blizzard. The 3-pack is $10.47 at my closest store. When the plant gets bigger, the Wall can be staked open.

thank you danielle, nice now but we had another bad rain storm with all the trimmings

*I am doing the wet-cold sponges in the nest box right now,and cool water on her plucked bottom,(she did it,not me), but she has found how to get the eggs of others..and she sits on them at the coop "floor", we use sand...she thinks she is sooo slick that one, well..she will be in a separate cage by the end of the week if her act doesn't straighten up!!.

You can try a cool water bath. It brings down her temp and makes her breast cool. That way she won't want to sit on a nest of eggs while all wet and cool. She'll know that she can't sit on the eggs like that or she'll ruin the hatch. Then hopefully she'll forget about it by the time she dries.
