Sally, congrats on your awesome hatch rate! People band to tell their chooks apart, sometimes to designate a hatch date, or when your testing out a roo to see what kind of attributes he's bringing to the table. You can band all his offspring a specific color.

All shows seem to require some sort of banding, so people don't leave with the wrong birds, or to show they've had testing done.

Blarney.... Gotcha!!!

Jack Black is fluffing up hatched but real wobbly yet!!! yay He musta kicked free and his cord was still attached because it looked like fresh drop blood so I powdered it with corn starch and he seems fine!!!!!!!!!!!! yay! pics to come OMG eggs I need more eggs! LOL

Missy why do people zip tie and band? For Showing purposes ? sorry if thats a stupid quest

I am not Missy (obviously...) but I zip tie to differentiate different hatches. When you are a hatching maniac like me... well it is an issue!! I also put a green zip on those I know I won't keep. Green=Go!!

Missy, funny. Do you happen to be Irish? I have the shortest, fattest fingers, ever. Got em from my Dad. The kids call em my Fatty-fat fingers. And sending txt messages...arrrgh!
So my son has a soccer game in Bear, DE after school. Yikes! I don't even want to think about the traffic, I'm doing my rain dance, it appears to be working.
I'm selling some BC Marans cockerels. I'm going to try line breeding with my current Roo. He's got a nice long back, good tail set, feathered shanks, no middle toe feathering and NO sprigs on his comb. I'm getting ex large eggs from this line. I don't know what number egg color, they look good to me, but this is my first year with Marans. I really should invest in the egg color chart from the Marans club.
I'm selling MF Banty Cochin cockerels as well. They are looking good, if only there weren't so many of them!

Blarney if the bantams were hens I'd soo be on top of that especially since you aren't far from me at all!!! If you ever do have one or 2, you know who to contact ;o)
