Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

:hugs . It sounds like you have the first aid covered... I would keep the little guy off of food until you have a chance to re-glue (if you haven't already) and it has had time to dry, and even then I would give it a couple of hours and maybe just stick to small amounts of soft food (well spaced out) for today, yogurt and finely chopped scrambled eggs would be my first go to food choice for the next day or two to give it time to start healing.  It is hard to tell what punctured it, possibly punctured from inside with a sharp corner on a piece of food or seed.
I would definitely use a topical antibiotic on the wound area after the glue is well set for the first couple of days (just make sure there is no analgesic/pain reliever in the ointment). Oral antibiotics as a prophylactic are up to you and I can't provide much help there because I haven't used them on birds.

I'm not sure what to advise on the little one with the sore eyes, I have never had that occur with any of mine... sounds like you have already done the right basics and now it is a matter of finding out if it is somehow a traumatic injury (though I would highly doubt it since both eyes are involved, but chicks can/do pick on each others eyes sometimes), an irritation from dust type thing or a medical condition similar to human pink eye (conjunctivitis).  Both would involve initial care of careful cleaning, I'm not sure if you can find a topical antibiotic wash for eyes, and I believe most triple antibiotic ointments suggest not for use in eyes, so using that would be a choice you would have to weigh pros and cons on.

Thank you. You've boosted my confidence a bit. I did take Wynter ' s food from him and I'm going to go take his water too though he's just laying there and doesn't seem to want to get up and move around. He did seem like he was starving to death when I put the food down earlier so hopefullyi can get him sealed up enough that he can have a little bit of eggs later. I think the glue that did set feels weird to him. How long does it take for food to pass through the crop? He didn't have a lot this morning but he had enough. I already have the triple antibiotic lotion out and ready. I made sure there was no pain reliever in it when I bought it. Poor boy just hasn't had any good luck in his short life so far! He had that "scalping" to the back of his neck a while ago which did heal fine. Then he had a wierd molt which I figured was due to his injury. I'm actually guessing someone was pecking at the pin feathers that were coming in on his chest and picked a hole in him. Horrible! Nobody outside is showing any signs of problems at all.

I'm going to sit here and look up if I can put it in the baby's eyes. When I was cleaning them, I opened them and both eyes look ok but they must be really sore since she refuses to open them on her own.

one of the hedemora boys got a little frostbite.

They look like nice stocky birds despite the lighter average weight that I remember seeing listed on their breed profile... very nice looking pair!

I am working on expanding my source for the WRs, I will get back to you on the rock sources as soon as I have some more info on them. My Silver Pencil rock source is good, but hatching eggs are $20 dozen from him and as you know, they are a very broody prone bunch, they are decent sized, but not nearly as big as the WR and I would like to see a little more size to them . I am hoping to increase the average size (only by about a pound) of my birds through some selective breeding for it, so will keep you advised if I have any luck with it.
For SPRs I would see how Swataracreek's girls are for size and broodiness. She is also much closer to you for stock, though I will be glad to share some eggs with you from mine once I get them separated.... that way you won't have to worry about plugging in an incubator so often!

. Same with the other rocks I have, once they are in breeding cages I will be glad to send you some eggs to hatch. The WR are poor for fertility according to the breeder I got them off of, he is trying to swap out roosters and try to improve that issue, so time will tell.

I just re-glued Wynter's hole. He was obviously up and moving around and he did poop a couple times. I think I got it glued good this time but I will probably do it one more time in about an hour just to be sure I get it closed.

The baby with the eye problem actually started opening her one eye a little bit. I tried some lubricant eye drops that I use on my dog for her dry eye issues. I think I'll check her eyes every hour or so.

I'm having a really rough morning.

I went out to the coop to feed everyone this morning and I noticed Wynter was wavering. So I picked him up and his little toes were frozen. I brought him in to warm them and I find out he also has a hole in his crop! A HOLE! So he's in my bathroom now. I cleaned up his feet and he has some frost bite and cleaned up the hole in his crop the best a could. Doesn't look like there's any infection or anything thankfully. I super glued it shut but either it wasn't glued competely or still wet. When he started eating, a little squeezed out so I took his food so I can let his crop empty out and try it again. So, then I go to clean out the brooder and I notice one of the babies isn't reacting to me gathering everyone up. She's just laying there. When I got to get, I thought her eyes were gone! Turns out they look almost infected. I cleaned them up with damp cotton balls and she's laying on my lap now, drying. She's not opening her eyes at all and is continually peeping if I don't talk to her and freaks out if I'm not touching her at all. Everyone in the coop and in the brooder has gotten a thorough exam this morning. I'm just really stressed and don't really know what else to do for either one of them

Fisher pretty much covered my thoughts...hope your two get better....its been my experience that chooks/chicks have high metabolisms and respond well (or not) to treatments...I'd suggest getting some surgical glue from your vet...I have one I could give you but I don't think you're close to me....hope your chick makes it...so sad to see a little one fail////

Thats nothing...my main roo lost all his points last year and still has some frostbite this year...

Junior roo....is getting his butt kicked too
Hope your roosters clear up without infections... a couple of ours were similar last year and a bit of blu-kote seemed to prevent any problems developing from it. They will loose the tips, but I didn't worry about that as long as there wasn't infection to worry about spreading.

Has been a hard year for frost bite, most of ours have at least tips effected, main roo lost his tips last year and has a small amount of bite this year. Vaseline has helped prevent a bit, but I find many of the roosters rub it off on the feeders or by tucking their heads under their wings at night, so often the tips are re-exposed after the first evenings dosing. So far we have been lucky and there has been very little effect on any of their wattles, which surprised me because the White Rock rooster looks like he is a prime candidate for frost bit with his wattles... time will tell. Even though the coop is dry they are spending a lot of time outside under the covered run, and even venturing out into the open in the snow. I'm not willing to restrict them just to avoid it.

you would think they were in pain but I have never noticed frostbite to bother them... which makes me wonder why they even have them if they can just fall off with no ill effects....you would think that evolution would get rid of such things.

Wing:

Main roo got an infection last year...his wattles looked like they had grapes in them...I pulled him inside and started antibiotics...he couldn't bend over to eat or drink, so I placed his food/water on a 2' pedestal...after a week, he was ready to go back outside...(covered all the girls in about an hour).....he's a good roo and I think he's training junior to be one too....

Supposedly, I've been told that after a bout of frostbite, it 'toughens' up the rest and there's no more frostbite...(yeah)...but since he's got good genes and I'm not showing he'll be the stud muffin til junior takes over.....
