lets just hope its stays around for 20 days!! and then spring
That on,y sounds bad if you have to slaughter them, would be interesting!I seen that also, told myself NO, I do not want poultry that can look me eye to eye..
Interesting, never heard of that. I would think it tastes like chicken!I have never actually eaten emu meat but I hear it has the appearance of red meat and is delicious... and is popular among the healthier eaters who believe red meat is bad for them.. theres a benefit!!!
I keep thinking of this too. Oh the mud!The only problem I can see with the weather is the foot of snow that is gonna melt in a hurry.. gonna keep fingers crossed, I had enough of winter
Love those pictures! Makes me feel better that I have a 11 week old in the house. But I think with these warm temps starting tomorrow....who could use a laugh? I have 8 20 week old chickens in my dinning room at the moment because its just been too cold to let them outside. 2 of which will be butchered this weekend. Well woke up this morning to 2 escaped chickens LOL Belle, my silkie mix usually escapes every morning. she lives perching on top of enclosure. There is no arguing with her. There is a gap on the top fence I use as a lid so I use a baby gate to block that. Well that doesn't stop her! She jumps into it until the baby gate falls off. Then hops out and perches on top. Well this morning was the first morning our rooster that we are keeping, Olaf, a silkie mix got out. He was scared. He was in the living room hiding by the computer desk. Good thing out cat is scared of them and our dogs are chicken friendly!!![]()

I was told even with the warmer temps they can't go outside. because they are kept at 70* so it'ss be 30-40* change during the day and about 40-50* change at night? I wish they could go outside! That on,y sounds bad if you have to slaughter them, would be interesting!![]()
Interesting, never heard of that. I would think it tastes like chicken!Wonder how often they lay and go broody...![]()

I even have 1 hen who is laying already LOL But on bright side being inside in the warmth she lays every dayyou could put a frying pan out and see if they deliver..
all jokes aside my hubby is very tolerant of the chickens but I think 20 week old getting loose in the house would send him over the top.
This makes me feel better about my two groups of peeps, 3 almost three week old LF and 5 almost two week old bantams being brooded in the sunroom. I prefer to have them in the garage, but it is just too cold yet. Besides, running the heat lamp and an EcoGlo20 brooder helps heat the house at no extra cost.Love those pictures!
