I didn't see that talk listed! I actually offered to give the same talk! Very interesting... I'd love to know more details. I'm one of the floral exhibitors there.

There are quite a few of us in the Philadephia area. You may want to check out the COOP group. Here is their website.

http://www.chickenowners.com/

You may want to check with Pickering Valley Feed store in Exton too. They get a large selection of various chicken breeds throughout the season. They list them on their website, and you can call and reserve them.

I may have some Easter Egger pullets coming in 2 weeks if you need some blue/green layers.

feel free to email me or PM me.

And welcome!

10 acres for chickens???? That's the stupidest thing I've heard. We had 8 acres plus all the land on the farms next door. We free-ranged our chickens and they never traveled too far from their coop.

I am so sorry Lower Burrell doesn't allow you to have them. I am pretty sure you can fight it. 1.5 acres is plenty of room!!!

Check and see if Lower Burrel is zoned for all USDA approved acitivites. Agricultural activities. Don't tell them why you want to know. If it is, then chicken raising is a USDA agricultral activity. We had this problem years ago when they wanted to restrict dog breeding. Our township is licensesd for all USDA agricultural activities. Dog raising is one. The proposal was tabled and forgotten. This sounds like something the office thought up.
Best,
Karen
