Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

If you are looking for particular breeds, odds re good someone near you had some. The spectrum is covered pretty well here.
Are you looking for layers, pets, show quality?

@wingstone you are getting hammered this year! Anything I can do to help? I have most of a roll of 5 ft. Welded wire here if you need some to lay down as an anti dig our to extend some fence height. Also a bunch of 4ft plastic construction fence, much heavier than poultry fencing.

I will be looking for some Basque and perhaps some Cochin. But, I still need to build a run. Looking for a good place to buy hardware cloth.

At this point, have a couple of bantams, a barred rock (seems to be a cockrel), 3 SLW.

I know many may disagree, but I find hardware cloth prohibitively expensive. I personally find 2x4 welded wire adequate. Hardware cloth around the bottom if desired, although I don't use it.
Not sure where you are in Lancaster county, but the big box stores and many local hardware stores carry hardware cloth. I think my neighbor got a large quantity on Amazon.
Another source of cage wire of various sizes is Bass Equipment online. The specialize in rabbit cages, but sell cage wire by the roll, truck shipping.

Often on craigslist there is chain link fence and such that makes very sturdy runs. There is somewhere in the southern end, a sawmill, I believe, that sells locust in various sizes that makes awesome posts, just be prepared to go through a it off saw blades and drill bits of using it to build.

Hello from Lancaster County!

..whether pet or not, any loss is always sad..

I have an incubator at my nephews house for their kids to watch. Agreement is I will take the chicks right after they hatch, they are babysitting.

Yesterday I was told one of their friends wants to "babysit" the chicks for "some time" after they hatch. I could get used to having someone else raise my chicks for me. I will of course loan then equipment and but did, but no work! I love it!

I am having problems also, had a dig under early Friday morning, lost 12 out of 1 pen.

Needless to say, I have been on guard all night, no sleep...need a nap.
Sorry to hear that, you having a terrible year.

Sounds like a win win!

Dang....sorry to hear you lost another one, a decent sized dog sounds like a good idea!
That just sucks! I found a product at Lowes last night that could help, or you could surround the pen with flat sandstone or shale... although you would need a tri-axle load of it to surround a pen the size of your bird yard!

A couple of other ideas....I use 4x4 landscape ties around my pens....another idea is crushed oyster shells(not the stuff for egg shells)...have herd of folks putting a layer ontop of their bulbs to keep the squirrels out....any critter trying to dig through would end up with lacerated paws.....just a thought...

Have any of you guys had a bag of feed go moldy?

I had a bag of Layena in my shed, off of the ground, and when I went to open it yesterday, it was a giant congealed blob of moldy feed. I think I am going to contact Purina about it. I had another bag purchased at the same time that was on the floor, that one was fine. They are only a few months old.

Maybe the bag got wet at the store.
