This is the one I bought recently, works great for brooding chicks:

That one would work well... I have one that is a bit larger, but it was more money also

That makes for some interesting markings for sure!  Why get rid of the Blue?  I'm not great with some of the unusual colors, since I don't breed them, but most 'blue' birds I've seen are very attractive to my eye...

I love blue birds and blue and black birds, just for some reason not the blue/yellow. That's why I'm trying to breed to that yellow/black coloring and sell off the blue/yellow as backyard flock birds. They are orpingtons, so they make decent broodies for people.

Of course these come from the flock that throws the albino, which I think traces to my rooster.

Sounds like a catch 22 as it would disguise the red eyes, but possibly injure them as they are more sensitive too. :( perhaps it'll be okay since you said it was better after a few weeks?

At the moment they seem to be playing nice. One day at a time.

I also found out someone hatched out two albinos last year from my eggs. I hadn't even remembered giving them eggs!

Are you saying USPS is now requiring NPIP certificates to ship eggs?
If so, OUCH!
thought I would mention and it might be worth looking into, since this is a PA thread, that I am pretty sure you only have to be NPIP to ship out of state. I am not 100% sure but that is how I understood it.

I thought you only had to be NPIP to ship live birds out of state? I've only shipped eggs once so far and it was to Ohio. Post office didn't say a thing, didn't ask for any forms and knew that it was eggs.

npip cert is easy to get guys and gals. Contact your local extension office and ask for the number for your areas state vet. They will come do it for free

I picked up my meaties and turkeys today!!!
So cute! I will be getting mine tomorrow!
Now the fun begins! They look good! We have about 50 CX which will (thankfully) be ready in the next couple of weeks.... Today I am pressure canning broth, onion soup, chicken and making chicken mush for use with the dogs..... When we process 2 or 3 roosters we just freeze all of the meat, bones and organ meat and then when we have a large enough amount we take a day and process it the rest of the way. so far today the total is 9 qts of chicken broth, 5 qts of rooster in a jar, 6 pints of onion soup and about 5 lbs of chicken mush. Now I need to figure out what to make for dinner! :th
Wow! Amazing!

Are they all "backyard mixes"? They are lovely.
Oh no fellow enablers! I'm getting another coop. ....FREE! Our part time neighbors up the street (cabin) got rid of all their chickens and aren't getting any more. I'm guessing cause it's too much of a pain to come out here to maintain them. They were just going to burn it up but offered it to me. It's insulated and wired. It's not huge but it's big enough to be either a grow out pen or seperation pen. It's probably 5 x 3. My husband didn't even bat an eye when I told him lol. Thank you! We threw that together a couple weeks ago. It's about 30 ft back into the woods asking the edge of our property.
Send it over here! Ha!

Wow, do they have pictures of the adults?
Looks pretty as long as it's not in my garden.
Is this Henbit or Gill over the ground? I've seen this before, but I can't remember the name.
