Silk, are you trying to confuse us Pennsylvanians by looking like silkiesensation? Haha. Haven't seen you around lately. Glad you are back!
I posted here about the virus. Assure your customers that backyard flocks have been monitored, and have been found healthy. The sun and extra space makes it hard for the flu to survive/spread to them. Plus, from what I understand, humans can't get it.

I'm sure you will find alot of answers to your questions here.....:)

we just back back from the auction down in eighty-four, apparently the owner hasn't been called about not having poultry for sell, altho we didn't stay for the selling, there sure were alot of chickens, ducks, turkeys, and guineas there for sale, would have stayed but hubby was starting to hurt (he had a knee replacement) and he was trying to get back to normal

Bless his heart he looks like he has dandruff....lol..If it was only that easy....i hope you can get rid of them and Romeo was an apt name..he is very handsome!!

Peter looks great!!! Hope he grows up to be a great little cottontail!! :)

Turns out it is lice... I thought chicken lice looked more like fleas, but Google set me straight. I was able (okay, determined) to check his butt and lo and behold... lice eggs! A lot of them too. I can't believe he wasn't showing any outward symptoms like the girls. I didn't want to try to give him a peppermint bath like I did for the girls and he has way too much butt fluff for the peppermint/vinegar spray, so I just got out the poultry dust. I know I need to do it again in 7 days, but we'll be leaving for vacation on Sunday, can I do it early or would that be a waste?

I don't think it would be a problem....close enough if you do it saturday...that would be 6 days....I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable folks on here could comment on it...

Good luck! and have a nice vacation!! :)

Hooray for Peter! How is the mama doing with so many mouths to feed?
She seems to be doing great... just checked them today and tried to count them but they were all so jumpy it was impossible! I thought I had counted 7 plus Peter before, but hubs counted 6 plus Peter this afternoon. I try not to mess with them too much so we'll be able to tell better when they start venturing out. Clover's litter still has their eyes closed, so it will be a little while.

Hey guys, just got back from a camping trip in Northern OH. Drove through Mercer county and saw sooo many gorgeous farms, some of them had to belong to you guys!

On another note, I had arrangements to buy two call hens from someone that has repeatedly screwed me over. They were the only hens available and I'm desperate. Anywho, the person said they'd sell me the calls in late July-early August. A silver and a white hen, just what I wanted, and for cheap too. I told them I would NOT be at the swap this month because I'd be in Ohio (the swap was today). They messaged me on Twitter this morning that they had two call hens that they were bringing to the swap, but it was first come first serve and if I didn't get there fast they were selling them. Then about 20 minutes later they said that they sold them. Meanwhile, I couldn't even get the messages because I was out in the woods with no service. I was livid. A.) They specifically said I COULD HAVE THEM in late July or early August. and B.) They knew I'd be in Ohio!

So basically I got ducks that were already "mine" sold out from under me today when I was hours away and couldn't do anything about it. I've gotten screwed over many times by this person but this time I'm done.

That being said, I'm DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR CALL HENS. You guys don't even know how bad I want to get a few gorgeous hens and get revenge. I really need a white hen, but colors don't matter all that much to me. I have one of my good friends giving me some call eggs for my broody, and I'll keep the hens from those, but I want some sooner.

***If anyone knows any connections in Western PA or the surrounding area, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know.*** There's nothing I want more than to get some awesome girls ASAP to be like "fine, I got what I needed without you, I don't need you anyways". I'm looking to spend at MOST 35 per hen.

Try @minihorse927, @Lacrystol, or @clousert for call hens or eggs. I know mini can ship, she's npip. Not sure about the other 2. I could also possibly help relay from mini or lacrystol since they are both in Ohio.
