Hope this is right page for this, new to site, from Pittsburgh area, have a few hens, working on new coop to expand, looking forward to chatting

Welcome, north of Pittsburgh here, Beaver County. I take frequent trips east and am willing to play chicken train if you ever need something transported.

I'm also too grossed out by meal worms or black soldier flies... I'm not scared of bugs, but those creepy crawlers are a little too high on the ick scale for me. We've been planning to build a worm bin under our chicken coop but it hasn't happened yet. Meal worms and maggot? Blech!

Turkey hopped into the chicken coop today when I had the big door open to feed the chicks from Silkie, they are in a crate inside the main coop so that integration hopefully goes smoother this time. Anyway, one of my silly turkeys jumped up into the chicken coop and wouldn't come out. I doubt she'd even fit through the run door anymore. Silly bird!

Anyone have a source on marans around pittsburgh? Interesting egg color, also might be looking for easter eggers thanks in advance

Dheltzel is a but further east, but he is always hatching and I'm sure the Chicken train can help you out. ;)

How are my babies doing? Everyone still looking girly?

Hey everybody! Does anyone know what kind of turkey this is? Sorry for the bad photo, I was inside a store and this was the best I could do. Bird paradise in
Burlington, Nj. Largest bird store in the east coast I believe. Fun even if you don't have parrots, they have a lot on display.

Haven't had a close look in the last day or so because we've been getting ready for 4H stuff for the fair. Haven't noticed any stand out combs or anything though.

So, my oldest in 7... not quite old enough for 4H, but she's in the beginner 'cloverbuds' class. We were offered to give her a chance to do a demonstration at the fair with the big 4Hers and she wanted to do it. We do a lot of baking with sourdough so that's what she picked. She did so well and impressed everyone, I'm fairly certain that had the cloverbuds been allowed to compete (there is a rule that cloverbuds don't compete at the fair, participation only), she would have had first place. The judge couldn't believe this was her first demonstration. Together we made sourdough waffles, bread, and cinnamon rolls.
Trying to upload some yummy pictures but my phone doesn't want to cooperate and the cinnamon rolls are... umm... already all gone, lol
