Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

My treat for the twerps at dusk is BOSS. I give the 10 of them about a cup or so tossed in the run. That way I can do a head count and make sure they are all in before I close up the run for the night. In other news, CATE LAID HER FIRST EGG! I think the light one is Niko's from Sunday, and the blue one is Vicki's from today.
What is boss?

my children named their silkies Henrie and Dinosaur. my daughter was the one who named here Henrie (I mean, it's a normal name) and my son on the way home from picking them up told me his was Dinosaur (he's a blue silkie) so I proceeded to say "Dinosaur?" and he goes "yes, because he's scary."

I'm pretty sure that my son agrees that Dinosaur is the best name in the world. After my husband gave suggestions about chicken name, I think Bear is a good name comparing to Yoda. Mr. Bear Grylls is a worm eater just like Ms. Bear the chicken......

Been spending my mornings at the Philadelphia VA Hospital (which is a story in itself) - I drive my brother to his radiation and chemotherapy. Just got the privilege of witnessing one of the patients Ring The Bell signifying his last radiation treatment. So heartwarming.

Hope all goes well for your brother...and he will be able to 'ring the bell' himself someday soon!

Candled my eggs last night. Looks like one wonky air cell on a BCM and I think one of the Doms is clear but not positive on that.
LOVE this! Been too long since I've incubated. Everyday I think I'll set, then I do the math of when I can move the birds outside....and change my mind.

. He's doing remarkably well, his spirits are high and some times, he goes right to the bar after chemo! A true Irishman, my Dad would be proud.

We have a hen chilling out on a chair in the living room tonight. I found miss Henny Penny pushed up against the corner in one of the nest boxes earlier. She's about 5 years old and doesn't lay anymore. We adopted her from our neighbors last spring when they decided they didn't want chickens anymore. Penny was a special one to them but they couldn't keep just one chicken so we took her in.
I'm not sure if she's going to make it through the night. She seems unwilling to get up at all or move and keeps falling asleep despite the noise of the kids and tv. I can't find anything wrong with her :/
