Welcome to my world.  LOL  I think you're spoiled with those chicks that are sexable at hatch!

Oh Tilly, so sorry.  I'm glad she has you to care for her.

I had a singleton chick hatch this weekend.  I sent her to a different farm that had a recent hatch so she wouldn't be alone, unfortunately, she wasn't accepted by the chicks at this other farm and is badly injured.  They pretty much scalped her.  She is now back on my counter top, she has a few stuffed animal friends, and doesn't seem very interested in eating or drinking.  I dip her beak every time I pass that way.  Poor little thing.  She was peeping her head off last night after I picked her up, this morning she's not as vocal.  I can't figure out if that's a good thing or not.  Sometimes I think, 'oh good, she's settled', and then I think, 'oh no, she's dying.'

Oh no! Poor little thing! Hope she pulls through for you

@TillyPeeps I hope everything works out and she's just fine.

So, hubby may kill me tomorrow....he didn't mind last week when I picked up 6 chicks at TSC since my daughter was in love with one of them but I have no excuse today. A guy, in the next town over (10 minutes away) had bantam polish chicks for $2.50. I couldn't resist and picked up two lol

You're way beyond chicken math now, you've graduated to chicken calculus!!!

If you need a buddy for your chick, I can always spare a chick or 2.
Thank YOU! I may just take you up on that... I haven't had any blue layers in a while and I will be up your way next Tuesday AND Wednesday! We really should move to Montco as we are there ALL the time for 4-H.

Also....the little chick is really doing well. She ate on her own and has been vocal and walking around a bit. Haven't seen her drink on her own, but I keep dipping her beak. Sweet little thing.

glad she is doing well!

I can't sleep without telling you guys! I got a message from LittleMissPurdy about two hours ago!!
She is doing okay, and should be back on here as soon as possible.
It's funny that Stake comes back, and now she's back! A few others have been MIA, and have returned. I would say it's because it's spring, but I know that a lot of people have just had busy lives this past year and it's just now clearing up.

Well, MCC, I was just having an issue with the company that host BYC web site....they thought I was a threat and was blocking my MAC address...(its IT stuff)....I replaced the cable modem and everthing is okie dokie

B:
PickeringValleyFeed has chicks in.....mostly Ideal stock...don't know if that's a no-no for NPIP.....I may have a singleton hatch in a few days....maybe, we could work something out...(assuming my hatch does?)

Saw that you posted you know that Pickering has chicks...was in there a couple of days ago and they were picked over pretty good....you might want to expedite if you want 'good' ones...my two cents

Darn it! You gotta get that fox Stake!
Glad you got to get some birds from dhetzel. Good stuff.

Yep, the fox got the RD that I hatched, one of your girls that flew out of the pen, and my Olive egger girl...and the fox has learned to stay out of the range of my dog....(about 50yds)...coops/pens will be rebuilt and I've learned the hard way not to free range them even if I am home....
