Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I pulled 64 black sexlink chicks from the incubator tonight, and a dozen turkeys. And 35 Cream Legbars.

LeBlackbird is coming by tomorrow for Chanteclers and Welsummers.

What colors do you plan on?

I don't "plan" color I started with blue and black hens and a Lemon cuckoo rooster ( basically a light buff). Offspring varied from buff to bug and blue to balcony and yellow, all in varying degrees. I've only kept those with but and black. The ones showing blue have gotten sold, along with the other colors that were extra.

There is an issue of leg color. The roster had yellow legs which is wrong for an orp, so some of mine have yellow legs. I generally do not keep them, either.

I have primarily sold the birds at several months after they have colored out, but also because I don't sex and people are always looking for older birds.

Somewhere in my picture folder are some pics of some from last year. A couple people on here have some of my birds as well. I'm on my phone and have trouble accessing them at the moment.

Then there is the albino project. That is in another thread. Right now, all of have is six chicks from the albino project hatched the other day. Three are probably albino, three are light but without the red eyes. No dark legs on them. Since there are only four adult albinos I know of existing, three that I have, the chicks aren't being sold yet,

I also provide eggs. There is also a pen of Swedish flower hens, but there is an Orpington rooster in there from the winter, so they won't be pure at the moment.

Sorry for the long post.

Sounds like a good hatch number! By the way, I'm very impressed with the Rhodebar as a layer. She lays very consistently. She also lays like a ninja! In and out.... Some of my girls loiter for a while.

Just found three ticks on the pooch....frontline time......

For those looking for Silkies, there is a Chester Co woman named???..."Lisa"....I think Blarney knows her, she had Silkies, CCLs, Chauntler's(sp), and some really nice looking Turkeys (I think she gave up on the CCLs though?)
Liz at Hacker Hollow? Farms... she's got some very high end silkies.

I tried letting my chicks out of the brooder to mix with the birds that have been ranging around them for the last week. It did not go well. The cockerel called them out, scratching and calling, when the first one stepped out of the brooder....the cockerel pecked him hard and chased him all over. We'll wait a little more before trying it again.
