Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I have movement and cheeping. I figure if I have a lone chick, I should have at least one duckling in a few days. JIC, I will keep you in mind... And the fact that I can just carry it around.

In the future, I will not use an incubator just because it is new, and I spent a chunk on it. I need to either get it working right, or return it.

LOVE chick pics... this is a nice looking group.
They all look great! I really like the lighter colored one. That would be really awesome if they were mostly pullets. I can't wait to see their egg color when they start laying!

If anyone else wants some chicks, I seriously still have WAY too many! Come get some! Lol
Think the cabinet incubator may have something to do with this? lol

Yeah, probably lol. My hubby said I'm not allowed to hatch anymore chickens without orders for them lol. Turkeys, I'm still allowed to hatch what I want though

Is there a locally owned feed store in the area? Now is a good time to approach them about taking your chicks on consignment because they have their chick bins out and might be running low on chicks, but not enough to buy 50 from a hatchery. I go 50/50 with the local stores so they have some profit, but the big advantage for them is that most chick sales result in a lot of supply and feed sales, immediate and future.

Make sure they know they are "locally sourced" and never shipped, that you are not a broker, but a small hobby hatchery. Small business owners have a soft spot for suppliers that are like them and you offer a lot of advantages over the hatcheries.

Yesterday I dropped off 50 chicks to the local Agway. Cleared out 2 brooders and made some others less crowded.

Need to Vent a little with people who 'get it'. ~ Bella's not much better, DH kept her in the garage the same night DS skipped locking up our juvenile BCMarans. The whole coop including my daughter's showmanship Polish was wiped out. We've lost our line of BCMs and I'm upset and furious. Just checked the incubator and it was at 110, so not such good luck around here. Chores are awful. Normally, I'm happy to be outside, it helps me clear my head. Now I'm running into feathers everywhere and then I'm incredibly sad and mad all over again. Makes me just want to throw in the towel. On another note, The gate to the goat enclosure was left open this morning and the slider to the kitchen was left open a smidge. So I had goats in the kitchen today... kinda funny.
So sorry. :hugs. That just stinks.... You know you're having a bad day when goats in the kitchen are a positive.
I am offended that I am one of the highest posters for every day, each week, and each month. I am amused that also in the top 10 are two other Pennsylvanians! :lau
Found where my guinea was going Lol!!:clap but my oldest hen died last night of old age :hit
That's awesome! Sounds like you may have broody with that one.... @dheltzel. I was able to get eggs from Motorcyclechick. But don't worry, I'll be back for more after we make settlement, hopefully in a couple months. First plans for the new house, buy a shed and have my new coop setup. Oh yeah, I'll have plenty of room then for chickens!

Arg! Quick venting time please. So we got our new parrot in October. She does scream occasionally, at least every day. It is very loud, quick, but startling, mostly. it scares the dog, but she has been okay thus far. However, since we have taken or carpets up a week or so ago, ALL noises echo a ton and the dog has started to get anxious. Now, she has developed pretty bad separation anxiety. I have seen Cesar Milan say that that is mostly an energy issue, that the dogs have too much. She has chewed off the molding around the door and is now trying to chew the door. We are trying to put our house up for sale soon, so we really can't have this. I have been trying to take her for long walks in the morning and run her a bit too. I'm going to have to up how much excerise she gets and bring her to work with me for a while. Thankfully I have that option. Creating her didn't help either, she chewed the tray in her crate and chipped two teeth. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow to rule out any physical problems.

Rant over! :D
