She's opening her eye! Maybe it's not as damaged as I thought! By the way the skin was pulled away from it and how she couldn't open it yesterday, I assumed it was seriously damaged. She's opening it almost completely :)

We settled on our new house (and our old one) on Tuesday!!! We are officially living there, but I have no internet access until Friday. I have been so busy, but it has been wonderful!! This property and house has so many awesome features I wasn't even aware of, and it's HUGE! The other night I was running back and forth in the house, just because I could! Our last home was 1008 square feet, with no basement or garage.

More good news, the previous owner, who is just moving next door didn't care at all if I brought in chickens or turkeys. Not that he has a recourse, we own the property now, but it's nice when everyone is in agreement. Now I need to get my act together tomorrow to convert the carport to a temporary yet secure turkey shelter.

I'm so excited!!!!

Found this scene yesterday on the farm and had to share a pic. She seemed to appreciate the "security detail" helping out with the little ones. I counted 9 chicks.

I have a basic box started with some of those items. I'll look that up. Thanks

... Perhaps I misunderstood... With "forum signatures" (in quotes) I understood that to mean I could search it. Could you explain further? Thank you.

Are you on mobile? If you are, you can't see the signatures. On the desktop version, under every person's posts, they have a signature or list of links and other things they choose to share.
Thank you Aurora..I forget that others are on here with mobile...it is too much of a pain for me to even look at this site on the tablet I have. I have issues with technology & it has issues with me.

...There are many threads on BYC regarding meds & dosages. Also many websites from the products themselves that offer dosage charts, although some of those are hard to understand.
Hopefully you will never have to delve into the extended versions of med boxes, but as percentage's and livestock go, we are all starting behind the 8 ball.
I have found my go-to products are ...

*Homeopathic..herbal remedies (homemade)
*tylan (extreme cases only & I have this product as I use it for my dog), I have only had to use this product once for poultry
* bluKote,
*vet RX (aide & remedy)..this is the most used product. Takes care of 99.9% of any issue..non-injury related
* Vitamins & electrolytes (durvest), can be given to most livestock
* avc w/ mother (fermented feed)
*antibiotic ointment(s)
*styptic liquid (clotting)
*wormers(multiple types), like to use garlic & squash seeds first to remedy
*many types of bandages(medicated & dry)
*wipes
*as well as suture implements, syringes.. etc...

**I am a bit behind this morning. Bug is here & we were doing our lessens on ABCMouse, now have get something to eat...she said her brain is hungry!

It looks like you have the same problem where you are that we have where I am! Canning is common where I live and it can make the products more expensive to find. Of course I can go anywhere find them, but they cost a fortune some places! Also this time of year, most places have empty shelves when it comes to canning supplies. The cheapest place I have found to buy jars and lids etc. is Peight's Country Store. There are 2. One on Belleville, Pa and one in Mount Union, pa.
I know you are over an hour north of Belleville (from your location in your signature) BUT, it might be worth a trip sometime. My regular lids cost $1.69/pack there. Pint jars were $8 the last time I bought them. Jelly jars are a little less, quarts maybe $1 more. I'm not positive on jar prices other then the $8 sticker on one of my boxes, but I know they are better then anywhere else I have found.
They also have pectin in bulk packaging.

I don't know if this helps but i love that store. (I frequently am in the one in Mount union).
Have found, unfortunately, that wal mrt is the cheapest for a case of jars, lids w/without rings.
I do shop @ dollar general & family dollar up here when we are not planning the 1/2+ hour drive trip to lrgr stores.
It is only .50 cents to a dollar more & it nice to support a more local store.
I love the Amish store in Rote, they are great for my bulk baking/canning(dry goods) items and groceries.
I miss 'Roots' in Lancaster Co.It was a lrg famers market we went to every Tuesday.
The Amish store we shop at now is actually cheaper with a lot of their items than even Roots is, so works very well for us!

Thank you. It's really amazing what you can teach yourself to do when you have to. I can't even get my hubby to look at the pictures, or her because he's freaked out over it.

Speaking of her, she's up and moving this morning and has a nice full crop. I'm not sure if it's from eating this morning or if she didn't push it through overnight because of her stress. She was definitely harder to get water into her this morning since she's more active.
great to hear she is up & moving!

They are listed as flock members in my phone app. I "had" to name them!
Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford
nice...
I think so, but relabeled and the price raised to make it seem safer.
I guess we should be glad chickens don't need Epi-pens . . . .
Omgosh!! How about it?!!

:th Are you sure about that?
LOL . Yes, Chooks! autocorrect strikes again! :gig Aweome! Congrats! I had no idea this stuff even existed. Downloaded, thanks!! I wish I could contact her. If you speak to her, please tell her I would love to have some more "Oddballs" (Bantam Cochins) if she has any left. I'm not picky on age. I told her to pick a name for the banty cochin she gave me, and she said "Oddball" LOL. Always a good reminder, thanks! Sorry that happened. Sounds like you did everything you could for her. I bet she will pull through. The fact that she is getting "feisty" again is awesome. She wants to live! Now, she just needs an eye patch for the bad eye.... Yes, 3M makes it, and I believe it is called Liquid Stitches or something similar. It is also the same as nail glue. It is a all cyanoacrylate I believe. It is just sold in different viscosities. We used nail glue or super glue all of the time in the salon when someone cut their fingers with hair cutting shears. It stops the bleeding quickly and will hold on even if moisture is present, such as when cutting wet hair. Several nail glues also come in a brush on formula, which is probably better when you have a moving target like a hurting chicken. I'll have to go buy some now too.. I know I'm not Fisherlady, but I knew this answer!
LOL! There's an app for everything! I was just saying that Fisher could get the glue. I do appreciate the reminder that other glues do exist. :thumbsup

Awe!

I remember that I really wanted beef cubes for canning something. I bought the beef cubes, and can't remember what I want to can now.
It was not beef stew. Does anyone have any ideas of what the heck I might have wanted to do?
