everyone is molting right now (or too young to lay) so I have nothing to hatch at the moment BUT I have my lavender ameraucanas seperated. I just have to wait til they start laying again. I'm also picking up a new CCL roo tomorrow that will get some ladies as soon as his quarentine period is over. I need backup roos!

Auro:
I have and extra CCL boy from JR line (complements DH)@8mos...I also have a couple of OE boys(6wks).....they are all freebies....if the train can accommodate...pm me....

I wish I had a way to get more birds over to you. I have a bunch of surplus roos. I have beautiful Jill Reese line Legbar roos running loose on the farm because I don't have pens to house them all. The ones with "street smarts" will survive the winter and be backup roos in case my main breeders don't measure up (or die).

If anyone is traveling west from the Philly area and could transport some young chickens, let me know.

I had my first loss tonight, I think. :hit I didn't get home until later because I was trying to help a family with their aggressive dog (unfortunately they need professional help).

When I got home, I only found 11 of my chicks. DH and I went out with flashlights and we found one more. Just maybe the other two are hiding and will show in the morning, but chances are not good. Of course the Roo was still there though lol. I just cannot come home late anymore until I get my coop setup. Hopefully, that will be early next week. We have to clear a couple small fallen trees to make room for the flat bed. That will be my project this weekend. Project Clearpath...

I also think I may have found a fox/critter den near where I am going to place my coop. How would you all describe a den that you have seen?

I might. A trip between Philly and Altoona in next few months. But I am not sure when it will happen. I'll let you know when it happens.
