I do have 8-10 eggs a day from the other chicken's that are 32 weeks old. We have 28 chickens altogether. ONE is a rooster all the others are for sure hens.

We do get about 8-10 eggs from the chickens that are laying. Like I said we don't need eggs, but my girls will so thrilled to see a blue egg or a pink egg from my Easter Eggers. We let them out early in the morning. Around first day light and then they go back in on their own at night. We don't artificial light on them at all. Are you using a heat lamp or just lighting in general??
 
Our girls are laying like champs.
We have 4 black sex links and a RIR/production red type. They all are 30-32 weeks old and we get 4-5 eggs a day.
We have been keeping them in the coop so much because of the fox that still needs taken care of. Otherwise they free range and we just are not wanting to risk letting them out for more then an hour or so in the evening. We put two lights in the coop and have been turning them on in the evening until 9 or so. I'll have to talk to my hubby about changing the extra lights to morning. He gets up at 4:45. I wouldn't want the roosters to crow before that, but we could set the lights on a timer for then.
 
I think my hatch is basically done. Ended up with 2 CCL cockerels, 1 BCM, and 1 yellow fluff ball that could be wheaten Marans or some kind of cross. Guess we'll have to wait and see what she/he grown in to. Don't mind my messy brooder. They're in with my week and a half old Ayam cemani chicks :)

We found a 'foreign' egg in Jo's box late this morning (she is on her 4th brood of the year) and since Janeway is also broody and Gracie is still raising her last group we only had 2 possible suspects in that coop.... Muffin and Little Foot are both Silkies (almost 7 months old) who haven't crowed but also hadn't laid...so we have been hoping....

So I reviewed the security camera and found the culprit, my Step-Son will be happy since he has really liked this little bird since the first time he held her. I kept warning him to not get his hopes up, but now am tickled to be able to tell him his 'Muffin' is a girl!

Chickens are so fragile. Dad put an end to Rosie's suffering. And then today a neighbor up the hill got a new rescue yesterday who got out and killed one of my remaining two Leghorns. The neighbor was really apologetic and offered my dad $50. My dad turned it down. Chicken shouldn't have been out of the fence (they both keep getting out over the fence where it's lower by the coop). Plus my dog has been guilty of killing his fair share of other people's chickens.
So now down to 12 girls....for now

@gonehencrazy RIP Rosie, I was rooting for a miraculous recovery while reading your updates on here.
