Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Lehigh Valley here. Technically a quarter mile out into Jersey on the Delaware but for all intensive purposes - from BYC to Craigslist and Dating apps - I live in Pennsylvania :)

Welcome from Cambria county!

Got the very first Silver Ameraucana egg this morning. Earlier this week I got 2 from the Lavender pen. Set those aside with the 4 bantam lavender eggs and am thinking about turning on a small incubator. Some of the new Ams are 8 months old now and just a few are starting to lay since the days are very short. I'm hoping they respond well to an accelerated spring when I start adding lights next month.

We all knew that your incubators couldn't stay off for too long! (I know, look who's talking lol)

Sounds great @dheltzel. Silver Ameraucanas look striking on google images.

Was wondering today while looking at the eggs in GIANT. What breed would you likely get if you incubated the fertilized eggs they sell?

The carton says "fertile" but not fertilized. All eggs are fertile so I wonder if they have a rooster or just some fancy wording?

If they are white eggs you would probably hatch leghorns, Brown eggs would more than likely be 2nd generation sex-links.

Thanks @Chaos18!! This could be a fun project for the kids (me) :-)
The hatchability of refrigerated eggs is lower. If you want to hatch eggs, there are a number of us that are close enough to get you some good eggs to hatch. Be sure to consider what you will do with the chicks, including all the roos you might end up with.

New CCL Babies hatched over the weekend. There are 2 boys and 2 girls though the one girl is extremely dark while the other is extremely light lol.

All 4 in one pic. The very light colored pullet is on the left

This is NOT helping my resolve to leave the incubators turned off until after Christmas.
