You are right about the cost of supplies. I paid close to 400. to enclose my son's playground --including stuff I had lying around for flooring and shingles. (Shown in background.)
I have to duck to get in it and I need another nest box and bigger IS better with coops! I am glad to hear feedback about the little TSC Coops. They always have tempted me for a possible addition/quarantine set up--but not is they fly apart!
Lelanae:

I found one guy on CL that was making coops pretty inexpensive in Quakertown....aside from that, its been my experience you can build it better and cheaper....my two cents....

4 chicks died of 10 and 2 of 5 ducks. They got in at 1 today. I tbink I'm giving up for now.

During shipping? I'm so sorry you're dealing with loss again! What a tough run.

Yeah one duck was dead when I picked them up. The other died soon after. 3 chicks died 2 white laced red Cornish and one of the saipian jungle fowl. The other saipian and one dark Cornish i thought were going to die are making a little come back so we'll see.

Okay Thursdays officially suck. Anyway at 8 weeks old are my Wyandotte ready to move out to the separated side of coop with heatlamp? Looks like high 30s low 40s at night and big girls wouldn't be able to reach them. Hubby is pushing for it but I really can't handle loosing anymore of my firsts.

I'm so sorry you're going through this again.

Thanks. Its definitely not as traumatizing as last week. No seizures and just the ones that made the long trip are dying. Still have two that are iffy. I'm not sure if I'm going to try again or not. I wish I knew if my male East Indie died or not. If I knew I had a boy I'd leave it at that.

If you raise them up and have no drake, getting a drake is considerably easier than finding adult ducks to go with a drake. There are people all over PA with BEI's, some are show quality too. They have extra drakes like all the chicken breeders have too many roos.

I didnt think of that. I'll have to start looking around.
