No. Lavender is recessive so the roo would have to be caring a lavender gene to get lavender chicks.

I figured that was probably the case, but it never hurts to ask. :D

True. The resulting birds will be black and only carry a single gene for lavender.
If you want more lavenders, I have both eggs and chicks, large fowl, bantam, and silkied large fowl.

Of course you do. You truly are the poultry pimp (Player In a Management Position). :smack Haha! I mean that in the kindest way possible. It is tempting, but for now, I have to stay with what I already have on order from you. I have at least 10 Roo chicks that will be grown up to eat now, plus all of the other young girls that will be my layers.

The one BSL is trying to go broody again. :barnie I just broke my RIR yesterday, and I have two others to break also. These silly girls! I wanted a broody or two, not half of my layers to be slacking!

Look at this good Bielefelder boy! He is so handsome, I hope I can keep him. He has this funny puppy look to him, in that his feet and legs are so big, and the rest of his body has yet to catch up. You can see he will be a good size. He's so thin when I pick him up though, I don't see how he would be a good dual purpose breed. I will just have to observe and see.

We caught to raccoons today and killed them. Hoping We get them all.

Random question for all you PA people. Im discovering acres of blackberry, raspberry, and black raspberry plants on our property. I've never delt with berry plants before and have never seen black raspberry. Have a few questions.

1 Will it help them if I clear out the other plants around them? Theres grape vine cutting into some of them and taller plants cutting into the light.

2 Will the new raspberry plants produce this year or just the old ones

3 Any info on black raspberry or their berry production.

I'm trying to tame them a little so its easier to pick but not sure if I should.

Congrats! That's an awesome find. We also have tons on our property, maybe clearing may help, but honestly they grow so strong and full, that I don't think it's necessary, I do use the mower to cut paths through them to reach more berries. My observation tells me that the new shoots don't grow berries until the following year.

Black raspberries are the best! They are very very good for you, and when in season you will get berries every day!

I'm not sure how far you are from Cambria county but I have a chocolate muscovy duck that I'm trying to sell. I got her last fall so she MAY be a year old now but might not be yet.
