Congrats! When can I pick them up? Lol. Seriously, I do want a couple more, and if TSC has any in the next couple of weeks...

Why is it snowing on my birthday? :hitIt's okay. I still get to snuggle up with Keith so I'm happy about that. Also no school today, everything is closed. We've still got power, I highly doubt that it's going to go on us. But I have hothands just in case. Stay warm guys!!

Happy Birthday!!!

 I knew it was someone’s birthday. I’m sorry I forgot who's.

I can’t believe we still have power here....how’s everyone else making out in this storm?
 You jinxed me! Or maybe I jinxed myself.
I rechecked the weather forecast when you asked. It said about 1 inch of snow. Well, since it began about two hours ago, we’ve gotten three inches. Dish was spotty, then went out. I went out to deal with birds and brushing snow off the dish, and slipped twice. :hit I’ll live. I just hope that the road crew comes out soon. People are creeping along, but it only takes one person going too fast, and crashing through the trees...

I'm located in PA near Reading and I prefer to go locally. I haven't had a high hatch rate with shipped eggs. I want to get Svart hona eggs, but any other breed would do as well.
Welcome! I am near Pottstown, making us practically neighbors. There are at least 3 others here that are in the northern Chester / eastern Berks area. I have also had generally poor results with eggs shipped through the mail. I consider a 10% hatch rate to be a great success. Even local eggs are a gamble, and for many breeders, the fastest route to a bad reputation, so I discourage customers getting eggs to try to establish a flock or save money. Chicks are the best way to go for nearly everyone. But I do sell some eggs to people with appropriate goals and expectations. Mostly that means they are doing it for fun and might as well see if they can get a cool breed in the process.

I don't have Svarts, but I know 2 people who do have them. Whether they have eggs to sell, I have no idea.
My website, http://4chicky.myfreesites.net, has a current list of breeds I have. Not many are laying well enough to sell eggs yet, but I have some chicks available from most of the chicken breeds. My email list of chicks hatching: http://eepurl.com/bM2Eu5

So we have about 4 or so inches here now. It's pretty much stopped snowing at the moment but who knows if it's done for good or not. Ask of you that are getting a ton of snow, stay safe out there!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY. We lost power with the storm we got last week. My advice - if you have a gas oven, turn it on with the door cracked to keep your kitchen nice and toasty until the power comes back on! You can cook dinner in the oven as well - eat some of the perishables. Good luck!
