Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Wow, 24 hours?! I could never do it... I'd be passed out on the job!
We are allowed to catch naps when We can, unfortunately that didn't happen last night. Had an emergency transport to Pittsburgh just after midnight, hopefully can get a nap this morning but have to wait for all of the coffee to wear off. :wee:ya:th

I MUST get a real roost in the... temp coop (I really never know what to call anything here. )
I’ve never kept adults in that area unless they were broody, so a low roost for chicks and poults was fine. Now I have four older chicks wanting to be like Dad, and roosting four feet up. It was quite awkward in there last evening!
Anyway, I’m adding a permanent roost to a temporary pen that won’t get in the way when it’s just a storage room.
SAW HORSE! :celebrate I might be able to get one out of the garage! :fl

Brooding still going strong here right through winter. We had 4 hens hatch in early December, and as soon as they heard the chicks running around we had another 5 hens 'park' with broody hormones running amok in the coop. 2 hens are young first timers, the other 3 are older and have had many, many broods before. We set some of our own eggs for them to share. Hatch was over the weekend and we now have 5 hens sharing 11 chicks. One hen by herself and the others each paired off to co-brood, which is normal for our flock. We have a senior hen paired with each 1st timer which helps my peace of mind for winter hatches. Mindy has been a happy camper having all of the baby activity to supervise! Only got a few pictures so far...
