Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

We still have too much snow on the ground to even think about working the dirt in the garden though the house and ducks are digging mud puddles anywhere they can find grass. I did want to go out for a hike today, it's so nice out! But of course, the kids had the day planned for me between being at the school to do a recording for State Choir auditions (even though Wednesday is a virtual day), to friends having to come over immediately after for a Spanish project and in the midst of that the other one needs to go to volleyball practice, friends will be leaving sometime in between her being dropped off and picked back up and by then it's dark and time for showers and bed.... at least the birds are enjoying the weather!

I am very confused about what is allowed, and what’s not allowed with Covid.

We have almost no snow here today. I rarely can get a shovel in the ground because of rocks, so today was baffling. Two rocks, and no ice. It’s tempting to put all of the seeds in the ground!

Send me a pm. What is "allowed" is confusing and changes almost daily and depends on where you live or what politicians think. What is safe or at least safer is pretty clear.

The Welbars started laying early last week!!!! TOTALLY worth the wait and they (silvers) are soooo pretty too!
Thanks and shout out to Dennis and a question for him too.
I saw a vivid blue egg on FB that was supposed to have come from a Legbar/Amerucauna cross. Would it be possible to do that cross and (eventually) create a blue laying autosexing chick with poofy cheeks?

I'm wondering if the "Steele egger" from Meyer is a blue amauracana/legbar cross:

But they seem not being sexlink.

I read a review for their blue ameraucana saying she lays brown eggs! That's really bad even for a hatchery ameraucana, since they claims they are "true ameraucana". My new ameraucana will come from there (actually from mypetchickens, but still the same resource). I just want a chick with fluffy cheeks and friendly to make my son happy, so egg color is not so important. I already have Dennis's legbar laying beautiful blue eggs anyway.

Beware of believing egg pics you see on FB. I have a pic I took years ago that shows a blue egg that seems to glow it is so pretty. Actual pic, I didn't retouch it, it was just favorable lighting. I get some very blue eggs from all my blue egg layer pens, but also some greenish, or I call them "turquoise" eggs. Turquoise sounds so much nicer. I love the variations in the egg color, even while I aim for a "true blue".
I have been debating making a black sexlink using a Cream Legbar pullet and a Black (or Lavender) cockerel. That would give them a really cool look and I think they would be awesome layers of nice blue eggs. The one factor that makes this harder is that I would not be able to run pure Ameraucana pullets with them because all the eggs are blue. When I used the Cali Grey pullets, I kept them in my Ameraucana pen and the white eggs from the pen would make black sex links, while the blue eggs are pure Ams. I could use all lavender ams (pullets and cockerel) with Rees Legbar pullets. I could not separate the eggs by color, but the chicks could be differentiated - all lavender chicks are pure, all black chicks are BSL, with the pure black being pullet chicks.

I personally think those turquoise eggs are prettier than blue eggs. I think my legbar eggs have very slight of turquoise hint and they are so pretty! Put my on the waiting list for those black sexlink! They should be super cute! And have fluffy cheeks!
