Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I accidently got sent the wrong eggs that I had ordered. They are Silver Pencilled Rocks. I DO NOT WANT THEM at all. I would prefer that when they hatch they leave by day 3.
I have 15 SPR eggs under 2 of my broodies right now! LOL... but they are spoken for... I will pass the info along to him!
Hi, new to backyard chickens.

I've had some layers for a few years and decided to branch out and put the farm to use.

I am now enjoying being overrun with chickens. I have:

12 layers about 2 months from laying
8 cornish X (temporary)
2 ducklings that think I'm mom
4 Dorkings two hens and two roo's
love.gif

and 29 assorted chicks of cochin, brahma, dominique, barred rock, and silver laced wyandottes. and one silver laced polish hen.

Going for dual purpose free range/organic and something friendly for my almost 3 year old nephew to be involved with since he loves going down and helping me water, feed, and pitchfork hay.

Welcome! Glad to have you aboard!
Lost one of my 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes last night. Went to put everyone in for the night and found her on the ramp in the water trough. She was alive but very weak. Tried to dry her off and warm her up, but she didn't make it through the night.
So sorry, that's horrible!

Does anyone make chicken life jackets? In the past 4 months I have lost 3 chickens to swimming accidents.
I didn't think chickens do well with water at all... I guess all you could do is make sure they have 'stepping stones' for safety in case they get into trouble.

Sorry for your loss!

I'd go with a hypnotist, obviously they think they're ducks or maybe "chicken flippers/fins"

I'm 5'4" & not sharing mine either. Let's just say not much more than my arm would fit through our 1x1 pop door.

Quote: My cat plays with our birds but knows better than to hurt any. I can even trust her with newly hatched babies. She will sit on top of the coop & reach her paw through or run past the fence just to watch them scatter. She doesn't even bother my free rangers & she sits next to my open brooders & just watches them run around. Her 5 little babies are the same way.

And to refer back to some prior posts (should say "Lady" though):

Well just got back from the ag store, met some people that came in also getting chickens (barred rock same as what I ordered), they said they were actually pretty good & they were coming back for more. Get to pick up my girls around June 12th
