Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I'm not sure how to quote but for those who asked I'm south east of Pittsburgh. I would like to add some other chickens to my flock. Besides Craigslist and mail ordered eggs, does anyone know of any local swaps? This is what I want to add next: Polish, Easter Eggers, Dominique, Light Sussex and Old English Game Bantam.

Always a dangerous question around here. If you check the map in my signature, you can find people here who are use to you. As to swaps...I know of the Sharpsburg MD one which is a bit far for you.

I don't know when you'll be wanting birds, but I'll have Bantam and Standard EEs Next spring, along with Standard Buff Ameraucanas (purebred) and *hopefully* Bantam Blue/black/splash Wheaten Ameraucanas! 2014 should be an exciting year!

Can't help with the other breeds, unless you want a Light Sussex cockerel. I have one of those

I should be able to deliver to farm show, but at that point, unless I have try-hard hens, I should only have started or young adult stock available!

Check your Tractor Supply stores that are close, they often have swaps in the late spring into summer. I haven't found info on them online, so about need to call the locals.
I think there is an auction/sale at a fairgrounds in your area during the summer... for the life of me I can't remember the name of it right now... Silkie Sensation may remember it.

Also, watch a web site called Pennswoods.net it has a classified section and it's not unusual to see ads from your area.

Here is a site of show dates that may help...

Is anyone else going to the Sharpsburg, Md swap on June 8th? I have a friend that is taking Lakenvelders, Appenzellers, OEG's, and Wellsummers to sell.If anyone's interested i could also bring them and drop off on the way home. Let me know if your going i'd love to meet some others from here!

Wow, there's still honest and great people out there on ebay,,,,,my white bresse eggs came already and instead of 12 there's 18 with a note that says good luck in starting your flock, sending extra's so you can share the hatch with others.

just the fact that someone took the time to put a hand written note in there is impressive
I often do that too. Especially for orders with multiple breeds or different hatching times. I've had several orders from schools too & always send them as many extras as I can fit in the box. 1 of the teachers even sent me back pix of her class holding my duckies.

I'm a new BYC gal in South Central PA. Does anyone have one 4-6 week pullet they can sell me? I had two but some evil person stole one! They other is by herself. Appreciate any help or leads. Tractor Supply told me that the Green Dragon in Ephrata might still have some. Just not sure what I will find or the minimum.
OR, I might have to order chicks and give one to some lucky person who needs another one. Let me know.

Not sure where you are but I have a bunch that will be heading to the swap tomorrow night if not claimed before then. I have several OE & BCM around that age & a bunch of Australorps just a little older. I'm just below Wheeling on the Ohio side.

I have a mixed quad of OEGB already laying available right now, a few EE/OE chicks & 1 speckled sussex roo about 8 wks old. My son won't let me sell any of his "poof heads" but we have 4 polish & some eggs in the bator & should have those available late fall or next spring.

Quote: I haven't been to that 1 yet but was thinking about it. Will have to see what I need to sell when it rolls around. I missed the April 1. Next 1 isn't until October.
