Those looking for fruit tree's.....we are searching for the semi dwarf, decided to go in between, having a hard time finding them.

So I did something stupid (shocker, huh?). When I had the chance to remove extra eggs from a broody, I left them there.
Not only does that not help my chicken math or my finances (fewer eggs to sell), but that hen has been sitting for about 4 or 5 days. All those extras are obviously not going to hatch before she gets up with her chicks.
So, do I; take them tomorrow, and toss them?
Take them and eat them. One day is something, but I won't notice a difference?
Do yourself a favor. DO NOT crack an egg that has been incubated for 5 days. Or at least don't look at it if you do. You will NOT want to eat it. If you're bothered by the idea of wasting those eggs, boil them and feed them back to the girls.

No no. Not the 5-day-olds.

I meant the ones from today and yesterday. Thinking about it after I posted, I know I don't want to open them even at a day. Now it is a question of tossing them or letting her keep what she has, and the ones she has that aren't done before she gets up with the chicks will just have to go in the incubator.
Tomorrow I will be hovering. If anyone is in her box besides her, I will wait them out (or toss them out!) and mark all the new eggs. No more eggs allowed in her nest! I will see if I can get away with sectioning off her nest. I don't trust her to continue to brood if I moved her nest.

Duh! Talking it out with DH I realized the answer was simple. I did mark the original five. I tossed all the others.

I need a new home for 12 week old beautiful Lavender Orpington cockerel from the Hinc-JC bloodline.
He is starting to crow and must leave my backyard flock today!!! Free to good home, pick up or will deliver to SE PA, NJ or DE within reasonable distance.

Being "some guy", I will vouch for how wonderful the dog I got is! Someone help this dog! These dogs are from a kill shelter and very near euthanasia. They ate way too nice for that.

Hey thanks Ray! I didn't wanna put u out there without asking :) our girl we adopted is really coming out if he shell. It's awesomely cool to watch her get more social each and every day. U can tell just how broken some of these dogs are a first...crazy how people just leave them abandoned. I'm so happy for you and Maggie!!!!

It is hard to find them(dwarf/semi)...when they are around, get them when you can, because if you "think" they will be there when you come back....nope! Still not letting HIM live that down

Ohhhh! So you are rewarding her for being insane! Sounds like she has learned that being loud gets her treats!
I don't think anyone wants that egg!

AHHH...I was trying to reward her for the egg...okay, I see how she might interpret this. I usually give her and Babs something..after, she has laid the egg and is calm...hmmm, my bad then?
