Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

hey everyone, its nasty down here, a really dark as night cloud came up, thunder, lightening, and really pouring, hoping it stops soon, so tired of the rain already, started yesterday

We had it here a couple hours ago. Rained hard for about half an hour & then sprinkled for another 15 minutes or so. Not a real big storm. Just enough to get everything soaked & make my runs muddy.

Hope he is ok.:fl

I am dealing with either a bruised collar bone or fracture of our 4yr old sons collar bone - have to wait till hubby gets back on monday before we can take him for xrays as nowhere within 3 hours of us takes his stupid work insurance and I can't do the long drives.  The local drs office said to just put him in a sling for now so he is all trussed up in a sling and feeling fine apart from when he forgets and goes to pick something up.  Not much drs can really do other than xray to confirm it, put him in a sling and say to alternate pain meds.
Then on the way out this morning to preschool the car battery just died :barnie luckily I was able to just pull in off the road to the parking lot of a church and the pastor in there called a mechanic he knew to come jump the car (hubby took my cables out of the storage area for some reason). :th

Hopefully nothing else goes wrong today!!

Hope you guys all have a great day!!

I know about stupid insurance. My hubby works in Nj and we live in Pa. For the longest time we had to go to NJ to see a doctor. I had to wait for my hubby to get home because I don't drive long distances either, I have bad panic attacks. Had to try to find the tick guy today in the pouring rain and thunder, fun, fun, fun. The directions were wrong. Drove in circles (one way roads, hat the "city") for bout 30 mins.

As for the tail picking, they started that before I got the slw. They didn't have any tail feathers, soon as they see a feather coming in they go over and pluck it out. I have De the coop and the birds. Never see the creepy crawlies but want to be safe. They don't dust bathe often.

I have been tossing DE food Grade into my coop and dust the girls with it, is this a similar concept? I do that every once in a while, That is to keep bugs, mites, flees down right?

*** I think that is what some others do too, with the DE...I also use that product also... Yes, they use it for that purpose. I am using sevin...There seems to be controversy with just about everything out there,,,but, I think( not an expert), that whatever you use, when used as directed and not "over-used"/sparingly it can be helpful & effective...always keeping in mind safety hazards to yourself & chickens alike...there are alot of products out there, find the one that works best for you.

Everyone was posting about the Cicadas, capture them and freeze those puppies! Free treats!
Yeah I like just tossing in the crumbles mix, they like that better then the pellets, and this math is making me head spin! Toss in Crumble, Toss in Scratch, Toss in Scraps and They girls seem happy.. easy peasy!! lol
My Bfs mother is selling my eggs.. I was like Calm down lady!! lol When all the birds are laying, I will have plenty! I have 15 birds? And Holding back buying some Polish and Silkies from an Auction from the auction threat i am watching! lol But alas I only have 5 laying ( my one is injured and I brought her in the house on bed rest, she stopped laying), and they have seems to slow down production this week, I was getting 4 a day, only had 2 yesterday! See I set them up with a run, no one wants to lay any more. But more should start laying soon!!!

Also do you think it would be ok if I put my young chicks in with my older birds? They are about 5 weeks old, I have birds ranging from @ 1 year ( 4 Orps, 1 BLRW, 1 OEG) 22Week ( 2 EEs) & 13 weeks ( 3 RIR, 2 SS) , 5 weeks(2 Orp/Lang mix)

Yeah I can't wait I am like an impatient kid at christmas time hahahaha everytime I go into the backyard I always see the coop and then I get all antsy LOL

been raining now for at least thirty minutes, what scares me is the lightening , if the wind takes wires down, there goes my incubator and its full right now with a friends goose and duck, and guiena eggs, not to mention my brahma eggs

The wind we had in the storm front yesterday worried me - it went for about 45 mins, all the trees including the HUGE ones in the yard were all bending in ways they shouldn't lol I thought for sure one would come down or we would lose power but luckily nothing happened apart from a few small limbs breaking.

Insurance is crazy, one of the first things I had to learn about when I moved over here, back in australia you can basically go to any dr you want to, you don't get the "do you have insurance" question when you go to make an appointment - it makes me want to
