Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Anyone remember the wheat patterned dishes from the 50's that came with your oatmeal? Well, this morning I was tapping out the casserole dish I use for the chick food, and broke it. I had no problem putting my fingers in a pile of poo to get the broken pieces. Last week I stepped in a pile bare footed. It was gross, but not as gross as it should have been. Last night the dog (who is on medication, so it was my fault) peed on my bathroom carpet. THAT was gross to step in. And getting dog pee on my hand was gross too.
Someone want to tell me why pee is grosser than poo? I mean, I was right next to the tub and sink to wash the pee off immediately. I think I have gone crazy!

OK looks like we can have chickens according to what I read in our township rules

. So here is what I am looking for as for breeds
droolin.gif
, prefable all heritage/breeder stock please and the central part of PA say an hour or two from Lebanon. I am thinking road trip to collect them all at one shot and place them in an incubator when I get home. I think 6 eggs of each would be plenty to get a few hens from. I am going for the colorful egg basket and interesting looking birds.

1. Auracana (blue Layer)
2. Marans (Dark Brown layer, which I have found some French Black Copper in Hershey area)
3. Welsumer (dark Brown Layer)
4. Cream Leg Bars (Blue Layer)
5. English Orpington (
6. Cochin, Prefable Partridge (for brooders)
7. White Rocks
8. White Faced black Spanish
9. Rhode Island Reds

I think between the blue egg layers and the Dark Brown egg layers I could breed my own Olive Eggers if I can have roosters

.... That may be an issue with neighbors and the sound ordinance.

Uggh, Why do I do this to myself? DH and I are going to the Sharpsburg Swap as customers only. 8 yo grandson has been bugging us as to when he gets to sleepover...so I finally said he could go with us, and we'd camp out Friday night. DH tells his daughter our plans, and suddenly she says "ooh, that's something I could take the kids to....so now we've invited all of them to come along.

Good news...I got to set up our spare tent and make sure we had all the parts, which we do. So now we'll be taking our 10x9 Instaup, and the 12x7 dome tent...and they have their dome tent (unsure of size).

Whitmore Farms is down in MD, I have some of their wellies, but my roo is too young yet to be doing his job....so won't have eggs till next year. They also have BCMs.

If you only want eggs, I can't help at the moment, but I do have someOrpingtons, they aren't straight color, lemon rooster over BBS hens. 8 weeks and 4 weeks. Interesting colors, if thats what you want.

Thanks for the come back I really am looking for the English variety because of their size. And I would like to get eggs so I can hatch them all together. I am starting to think this is going to be a nightmare to coordinate.

i've got some huge Orps, but will not have eggs available for quite some time. Are you looking for imports? All Orpingtons are English, unfortunately the American Standard and the UK Standard are not the same. So when you say, 'English' I assume you mean UK import. They are known for their size, fluff, wider feathers, less leg ect. Is that what you want? Or do you just want a large Orp?

I have a couple GFF line Cream Legbar roos that are about 10 weeks old & a couple FBCM pullets that are about 15 weeks old. They will be laying soon if you are interested. I'm over near Wheeling on the Ohio side of the river but get into PA as far as Pittsburgh & Washington on occasion.

You will probably be better off just collecting birds that are close in age.
