Daylight picture.... Roo or hen? Got as a chick in April labeled red New Hampshire. The problem I'm finding is the New Hampshire hens also have good size red combs and waffles.

So it's def not a buff Orpington then. Maybe some eggs got mixed at the hatchery. Sussex or Delaware weren't at tractor supply.... Hope she's cold weather hardy. Her face is alot different than my other chickens... It's the eyes.

This is for my layer flock. I hate to see them go to freezer camp, but i just can't keep so many boys.... Any one need a pet rooster? LOL

Although you don't need a rooster for layers, I would keep those that look out for the girls, aren't to hard on them, and not aggressive to people. Mine are nor friendly, but not aggressive, watch for danger and treat the girls well, although he does have his favorites.
Basically, what you look for in any mate, caregiver, protector, nice.

easy! Pick the Orpington. They're the best chickens ever, it's a fact. (I don't just make this stuff up). Oh wait, no Orp listed!? Blasphemy! I would keep either the Welsummer or the BCM, as long as you have pullets of the same breed, then they will breed true. Plus, you can cover your OE and EE girls with either one of these boys for pretty egg layers. Also, when you start removing boys, the upcoming males may undergo personality changes, sometimes the Alpha is just keeping them all in line, take him away....and chaos!....did you say dump truck? YOU are my new best friend.



Flowndcoop: Awesome Brooder!! And I agree with BorderBrigade, could be a Columbian Wyandotte. What kind of comb does it have? Delaware would be a single comb, Wyandottes have a rose comb. Really is a shame that it isn't an Orpington. Seriously, you were robbed.
